Failure at the OSA, Biomet - Trust issues, Yes Leadership, Lack of Leadership?

Back to the OSA....Why is it that every time we try and book a tour/educational visit, we can't get a commitment or get anyone to make it happen. If it ever happens, you have to call, call, email, email, fill out forms on the Internet, beg, plead and eventually get angry before anything gets scheduled. The AVP is no help and I think is even more frustrated that those of us who are dealing with customers everyday.

Simply stated, internal compliance has so many redundancies creating additional work that it usually brings things to a screeching halt. The bottom line is that the Govt. is killing the industry with ridiculous over-regulations and taxes. Would love to see AdvaMed take a strong pro-business stance, for a change.

I understand that several key OSA managers are leaving for other jobs at Biomet. Is this because the poor management of the OSA and its programs? Seems like as soon as we get someone that knows something about their job, they move on. No wonder many internal and field programs are so poorly planned.

What is the deal with the OSA and bringing surgeons, residents and other hospital leaders back to Warsaw. I've been trying to set up several visits and all I hear is that there are no available dates and no budget available. Biomet has a great asset in the OSA, but its such a pain to schedule anything, its getting to be not worth the effort. Last time I was there on a visit, it was impossible to find out who is in charge and who can make decisions. Requests seem to fall into a black hole with no followup or sense of responsibility on the part of those who are supposed to put these programs together.

Welcome to our world! That's the way his entire department runs. No communication and no guidance on anything. He hasn't a clue what his people even do. The sad thing is he has some great people working for him but they don't really progress as a group. The leader is suppose to lead the way for the team. He just walks around with that strange smirk on his face and hasn't a clue what to do. The left hand has no idea what the right hands doing. God forbid we strive to grow and make changes for improvement. We have to do things the way we've always done them! Dane would be heart broken if we grew and improved!

I wasn't trying to blame any one person, but does the previous poster actually work at the OSA? If so, maybe it is all about leadership. Not sure exactly who you are referring to, but whoever you are talking about certainly isn't doing their job very well. How do these people get into management positions and who in their right mind keeps them there if things are obviously not going very well? I wasn't at Biomet back in Dane's day, but as I understand it, he was very involved and seemed to know what was going on....is Biomets management so detached today? Someone has to have final responsibility.

Biomet is an upstanding ethical company?>?> Right? What would one whistleblow on them about?

Biomet history of Medicare fraud is easy pickings for any whistleblower. They keep paying fines and lawyers and who knows who and like a timex watch, they keep on ticking. Has "too big to fail" become standard practice with the government? A bad sign for things to come

The OSA has dwindled down. Biomet continues to loose the Blackstone group significant dollars. Biomet is NOT a viable orthopedic player in both the products they make and the people they employ. One cannot be successful without the other. And unfortunately both are on the down here. Sales and Profits prove this theory. I listen to the investors calls wow? What a smoke screen of lies. Blackstone will sell Biomet as soon as this market turns and they can turn a profit. Eat my words on that people. Then the tunnel vision at corporate will be greatly expanded and this possible could be run like a viable business again. Bring back Dane..........

What are your thoughts on YES leadership?
Has anyone had trust issues with management at Biomet?
Can corporate at Biomet be trusted? Can HR be trusted?
Is SD the downfall of the OSA?
Can SD be trusted? I have caught him in several lies.....
Is the Director Level management style at Biomet to not make a decision or give a direct answer?
In your opinion does management stand behind employees?
What is the training like at Biomet for a new employee? I have heard it is weak?
What is your opinion of product managers, design engineers at Biomet?
In your opinion do they just try to copy what the competition is doing?
What is the reason there are no innovative products at Biomet?
Why do some people at corporate have non-competes and others refuse to sign them?
Will imports of lower cost implants be the downfall of the industry?
Is the Blackstone group looking to sell Biomet?

Just curious looking at taking a position here and have heard so much negativity about this company that I am questioning whether it is a great company or not?

Will Biomet be in business in 20 years?

A great way to get new customers is to expose them to your products, train them how to use them and with top quality products....give them top notch service. The OSA is a fabulous vehicle to get that started. Training surgeons, fellows and residents works and improves patient care. The problem is getting the OSA to effectively organize and budget these programs.

Isn't most of Biomet Mgt people who were there with Dane? I'm sure they still offer the same hip and knee, trauma systems they did in 2006 and 2007. I agree that Blackstone will sell when they can make the $$ they want. Why wouldn't they?

What is wrong with the people they employ? Biomet not viable? That's a lie. They aren't DePuy or Zimmer but then neither is SYK.

Word on the street is that there are changes coming in this area. Let's hope soon.
