Esperion

Facts: They were encouraged to give the other 2 candidates and in some instances 3 other people a sense of false hope. For tax reasons and to give those dragonfly people something to do they needed everyone to show up to the hiring events.

Explain what you mean by sending more candidates for tax reasons? I feel like this happened to me as well. I felt in my gut prior to going to the final interview they already had someone chosen. I kept wondering why they’d waste my time but I went for it. I’m interested to know how this works if you have more info in case this ever happens again or if I feel like it could. Thanks.

I believe by law they usually interview the top 3 candidates but may or may not already have someone in mind. I have been to numerous types of these interviews. Top 3 go, sit in a “holding tank” so to speak. Go through the process knowing very well the manager may already have their pick. I go because the recruiter. Plus the manager may have their pick but then you show up and present much better and then they find a spot for you. You just never know how the process is going to go but you have to go and at least try.

Technically with a final interview, you only need one candidate. In terms of federal laws it is actually Equal Opportunity that they have to watch out for. The initial phone screening of hundreds of potential candidates covers that aspect. Now if a company knows what they're doing they can gamble on just sending out 2 people to the final interview. Number 2 is basically a backup in case their number 1 rescinds or they may even give number 2 an offer as well in the event of a last minute realignment.

The managers at Esperion played games and didn't know what they were doing. Having to unnecessarily string people along. Also budgeting per region was an aspect that caused problems in terms of who they chose. Once again there was a lot of nepotism and shady things going on behind the scenes with certain people offered a boat load more than others. If you came in with solid experience, proven successes, and asked WHAT YOU WERE WORTH, chances are they didn't want you. The sad thing is that those were the people that actually had the winning game plan and not empty promises. Those candidates just didn't feel comfortable spilling all of their strategy and especially who they personally knew that could make the BA launch a success. It's tacky, uncomfortable, and in bad form. It is also unethical. They should be ashamed of themselves.

True. I could not have said this better....except where you said Esperion should be ashamed...I believe in worst than that. The culture they are building is toxic. They manipulated this for the biggest gain for themselves. Total lack of INTERITY...while stressing their “ Values” ? What a joke !

My experience was also odd and seemed unprofessional. Spoke to several candidates who all shared similar experiences. String you along, passing you on to the next and final interview, not punctual/ can't tell time/lack of respect for your time or return flight... many missed their flights. Reality is if you weren't desperate (out of a job... Regeneron and Sanofi folks, work at a shit company , or need out of your company ) or maybe just curious, you probably wouldn't have been at the interview. They are offering a contingent offer consisting of a high salary for some, stock, good vacation time, and a chance to maybe make bonus. Problem is doctors say the drug is poop! Also concerning their leaders. Most managers looked washed up. Seriously washed up and clownish. Not all but many. There are some good manages and some good reps but majority seemed washed up. Best of luck to everyone.

Lmaoooo exactly! Washed up is certainly how these buffoons looked. They looked like alcoholics too. The non-functioning kind. Hey Tim M. are you reading this?! Congratulations on this team of yours.

Dying laughing. I admit I was in the number 2 position and didn’t get the offer. They flew me out and I interviewed well. Put together a full business plan and territory strategy. They are it up and gave me great feedback. I walked out with no doubt I landed the ikon. Manager had been calling me for 5 months prior, called me and spoke to me at length prepping me for interview. Now I see I have been had. I learned a lesson and wasted two PTO days. There was no question in mind that I would have the job when I left the interview! Lol. I admit the jokes on me, but I really feel like they played dirty and led me on. Honestly, so unprofessional. Glad I have a job currently but the manager put on a fake dog and pony show to lure me into the interview so I could just be a seat at the table. It was revealing to me to read how others felt played too. i would be concerned moving forward with this company, they manipulated many. Could they be manipulating you too?

It’s ok, we will deal with it, anxious to get started

did anyone else find it comical when the district managers-oops, I mean regional managers said that this interview process was scientifically proven to be the best way?!? What the effing fuck! Seriously? Like, oh sure, 800 men and women who have made their livelihood using clinical studies will fall for the line? Let me guess! You have a placebo controlled double blind study that actually proves that claim. What is worse? Some bigwig making that ridiculous claim or 30 DISTRICT managers believing it?

Let’s pretend that I'm a cardiologist.... will I use generic zetia that is $5 generic/$20 cash price and get a 23% drop or write BA-E and get a 40% drop at $25-40 or more per month. Keep in mind that the patient has already realized a 50% drop (or more) with a statin. If they started off at 250 and now are at 125 (LDL), generic ezetimibe will drive that patient down to below 100. Is Joe Cardiologist really going to add a brand name medication on top of the 12 other medications that the patient is on? Few will and most won’t.

I can tell you sold in this market, as I did. You are 100% accurate. Anyone who doesn’t agree with this has not sold cholesterol lowering therapies to a cardiologist. Period. Good luck.

Great points. How many first n second alternates will actually give these clowns the time of day when the rats start fleeing the titanic? Some will cuz they need a job but most wont. Those that do cuz they need a job will show zero loyalty.

hey. I went back and read this thread from the beginning. The original posts were mostly positive with the occasional “cafe pharma douchebag” wanting their voice heard. Now there are probably 10 posts per day of disrespected candidates with an axe to grind. Not smart esperion!

Companies use NSMs and other wasteful events such as Esperion’s last 3 bullshit hiring events as tax write-offs. To stay in compliance they also need to have a certain % of final face interviews relative to the amount of people that actually get hired. So that is why physical attendance is so important to them. So they can justify their waste, kill two birds with one stone, and extract intel. And write it all off all at the expense of the investors money. And everyone’s time. They don’t care. They’re so corrupt they prob had some kind of contest going on among the managers for how many people they can dupe into flying out.

Exactly. And that is why the reps will basically get used for Starbucks and food. These offices will not write to the degree that they are hoping. Congratulations Esperion you just hired a bunch of overpriced caterers. They’ll prob get cheap on them though. The leaders seem like the type that would give themselves exorbitant salaries but then only kick down 300 a month in in-services to the reps lmao
