I grew up believing it was one’s talent and not one’s skin color...yet nowadays, you have to be ‘gay’ to receive special treatment. Genentech is not inclusive and they will wash you out during your training or during work, if you are not part of their leftist socialistic ideals of a work utopia. Their management team will manipulate workforce to whom they like.

In truthfulness, studies have shown ‘diversity’ in workplace resulted in no additional value on the beneficial outcomes and that the highest performing groups were in fact often the least diverse. The actual reasons for seeking ‘diversity’ in the workplace are completely political and have nothing to do with positive outcomes from a business perspective.

Absolutely! I left GNE after 18 years and am very happy with my current company. Yes, there's PC, as with most corporate America, but it's not an obsession like GNE had become. Total BS that only divides people and certainly does not add to the bottom line. I firmly believe in equality but not at the expense of those who might have a different, (conservative Christian), belief. There's room for everyone at the table but let's remember why we're employed - to discover, manufacture, and sell products. The rest is window-dressing and we see how it's destroying the culture of GNE. So sad - not Herb & Bob's vision.

I also was laid off after 18 yrs. Its a business not a charity. I decided to just move on. I'm with a new company and its not bad. There aren't all the resources but, there's also not all the politics. I'm conservative, I'm a Christian but, it was my decision were I worked. If it's not for you, move on and enjoy life.

I think in most cases the sales force and management is great. It’s the Hr (employee relations) that is a huge issue. Genentech has three employee investigators. Total. Those three folks have an insane amount of power. They conduct every investigation and It is absolutely in their best interest to have a finding. They tell everyone how important they are. They don’t have law enforcement or legal backgrounds but they think they do. In the past several years those people have continued to justify their existence by initiating investigations and scaring and intimidating people. It’s hilarious that a company as diverse and wonderful as genentech allows people like this to conduct intimidation campaigns unfettered. K!m B@!ley needs to go.

Have to disagree on management. Yes, still many good managers but too many Big Pharma sociopaths moving in.
 




































If you want to see the real Genentech I challenge any straight older white males to attend the Diversity Hospitality Hour at the National Field Meeting. I did several years ago and thought those in attendance were going to burn me at the stake. The puzzled looks as to why a white guy would attend was telling. By the way straight white guys are a minority at Genentech so why are we not included?
