DNA

I was one of those who did not have the right "mindset" for the pioneer ecosystem. I was baffled for a while as I won just about every award over 14 years. For days I wondered maybe I did not keep up with the evolving demands of the industry. A few weeks later I started getting calls from the recruiters and interviews with other companies. When the subjects "mindset" and "ecosystem" were brought up, most of them giggled as if they couldn't believe that I took them seriously. Some simply rolled their eyes. One recruiter asked if I actually bought this crap. She also told me not to bring this up during the interviews because it would make me look silly. Within 2 weeks, I had 3 offers on the table. Yes, I take in a few thousands less a year now because my salary was high. My severance certainly took care of that and more. But the appreciation I get from my current boss and peers is priceless. They actually value my experience and effort. Let me tell you this, the "mindset" BS is a total joke. There is no such a thing as a qualifier to work for any organization unless you are trying to join a cult or military. You are either good at this or not. I really thought I would miss a company that I worked for 14 years. Because of the way it turned on us in the past 6 months, I moved on with a smile without look back. I do miss my friends in DNA. Many good people are being screwed and mind-f__ked right now. My advice is to take the money and run as fast away from this as possible.

That’s the same experience many people have had! Good of you to share. The better you are, the more awards you won, the smarter you are, the more they want you out.

I look forward to taking every last vial/pill of business and severance with me when I leave. Please give me my walking papers and severance early. I will bet on myself every time. How is that for mindset.

As for successful territories, it is like life you have be in the right place at the right time, work hard and don’t let the marketers steal all the credit for success!!!

So true!

Well, I hope everyone is ok and, are able to find a job if displaced. I am out of here and God has opened up a new door for me to walk through. God bless all of you and good luck in the future.

If it had not been for a smart investment in Genentech in the early 90's, Roche would not exist today. It was Genentech products that kept Roche alive then and now. They were smart enough to leave Genentech alone to do the work but have screwed up by purchasing the rest. Eventually, the pipeline will dry as more and more of the R&D folks leave. The Roche name meant nothing as evidenced by the move to acquire the Genentech name and brand and run from Nutley to SSF. All of those who lost jobs were not Roche folks. Many good Genentech people were let go. I remember the GREAT days at Genentech. It is unfortunate that they will never return.
