Dermira...

Companies that pay mileage can set up systems anyway they want. Some companies will just have reps manually entert start miles and end miles at the beginning of the month and end of the month. The fact that Dermira is paying extra to use the GPS tracker for every stop says that they do want the information. What they do with that information will be known eventually.

Says a lot about the management that they feel this is a necessary cost for a start up.

Just curious how you all got this info??

Was the Gps info provided and disclosed to you all during the interview? I had a face to face with the DM and she didn't say any of this but then again I highly doubt it's something they would tell any candidate during the interview. If this is the case... No thanks I'll stay where I am!! Can anyone confirm?

I applied a long time ago when the positions were first posted. My cover letter is dated May 24. I applied for several territories in the Chicago area because I had such a large geography in my last position (dermatologists and pediatricians) that I am very familiar with all the territories in the Chicago metro area. I had an initial interview with a recruiter and that was it. Some people got rejection letters, I did not get that. Although, they probably at least made it to the first round of interviews with the DM. I thought it was odd because one of the questions the recruiter asked was about what I knew about the company. I knew a lot, the products, the studies, the disease state, etc...I even watched the online videos on the company website. There were no questions I felt like I did not respond well to.

They want newbies from what I could tell. I interviewed f2f n saw younger reps. I spoke to 2-3 candidates who interviewed on the same day and none had derm experience. I also know of about 2-3 other top Derm reps in my territory that applied and didn’t get a call back after they had a phone interview w the hiring DM. If ur experienced in the Derm market and know ur ish, that may not be what they’re lookin for.

Rookie micromanaging DM’s who don’t know what the hell theyre doinf will be the downfall of this launch. Good luck to all!!

Obviously every territory & DM & situation is different, but many of these positions will be filled with referrals, those who worked for those DM’s previously, etc.

Don’t take it so personally. If 10,000 people applied for 100 positions...

Umm they still have recruiters lookin for folks to fill positions so this ain’t no blockbuster drug or as ‘IN DEMAND’ as y’all makin it out to be!

Maybe those who interviewed got a taste of what a sucky job this would be or work w a ridiculous micro manager w a tracking device hahahaaa!

The best way to ask is ———
How are business miles recorded? Do we keep track on a daily basis of how many miles we drive or is there an app that will keep track on a daily basis for you?
If the answer is the latter then that means a GPS tracker. From what I understand the answer is the app, will record your miles daily vis GPS. This info then gets dropped in your concur expense report monthly with a receipt/document of every start/stop you made and how many miles between these stops every day that you turn the app on.

Oh damn... sounds like a horrible place to work! Isn’t this invasion of privacy?

I did ask the manager how we would report mileage and he said it will be easy because there is an app that will record mileage for you. Now reading this thread, it seems obvious that the only way an app can record mileage for you is to record everything you do by way of GPS. Sounds like they are looking for younger reps that need to be closely managed.

Makes sense because someone else I know with derm experience did not get the job either.

i saw posts on LinkedIn and it said recruiters and managers 'seeking Top Performing Reps with Derm exp' bahahahaaa do they really think a top rep w/ Derm experience would jump ship and come to this start up cluster muck Baahhhaa!!

Does anyone who interviewed recommend this company and launch? A recruiter reached out to me but not sure if this is worth prepping for an interview or a good move or not.

What do you all think, is this going to be one of those where they hire a bunch of reps to launch then lay off half months down the road. How are the managers to work with?

Thoughts?!!

By implementing the GPS tracking of reps - they are certainly positioning themselves offensively when it comes to managing the sales force. They will have the processes in place to quickly terminate people if they choose.

I had an interview with a recruiter and decided to not move fw. I prefer a comp car at any place I work! It's 2018 what company can't invest in fleet service esp with a launch??! Huge liability having anyone fr your company riding in your car and they in your ear giving BS useless coaching! Plus wear and tear on your car and the headache of having to buy a car if you don't have one already.
I sold insurance after college and no way Ill let anyone in my personal car for work purposes! The other reason is I don't like launches from start ups. Half of the sales force will be laid off in a couple years maybe less once the hard launch is done. They have investor money but will need to cut costs drastically to get their shares going in the next couple of yrs Etc. think about it!

If you're employed I would stay there!! If you're unemployed then yeah give it a shot. Oh and I agree with a previous poster, my derms aren't too thrilled with this new indication.

Check out Sage Therapeutics under start ups. Dermira used the same recruiters Taylor Strategies and entire thing was a &hit show. Delmira off to a horrible start. Good luck to anyone considering. I sure as hells will not.

So you’re saying you got rejected....nice try reject!!!

had a final interview. Still no word yet. This has been such a long drawn out process , full of ridiculous Trick question tests along the way.
Also
Specialty derm “biotech” companies are paying 120-140 for base , and offering company cars with none of this BS tracking I’m reading about. Really making me second guess this company if they make a offer.
Just the interview process alone was more intense and so much overkill compared to any other interviewing I’ve done EVER . You can def tell it’s a newbie company and not sure if that’s such a great thing.
