Dermatology Expansion

Very simply put, this role is best fit for the rep with 5 years experience making a lower base salary looking to get more specialized. Of course you always have laid off reps willing to take a pay cut to get back into the game.

or you have reps that see the opportunity and the long term implications and are okay with a temporary base salary reduction because they know they can make up for it with an uncapped commission structure. One that pays for performance vs the bloated stodgy big pharma model of IC earnings that have flattened earnings to a pancake. The biologic model has become high base with low capped variable earnings. So in the end they are very similar if you look at total earnings.

The base salaries even on the low end is not bad. If your just looking at the salaries, then you probably can’t sell. This is gonna pay for those who can sell and they will end up with some fat bonuses, all while sitting on a great salary. If your not willing to put in the work and be rewarded, then probably won’t be the place for you. Performers will prosper

I don’t know your experience level and where you have worked before??? Great salaries and fat bonuses as you put it are relative to where you’ve worked before. Don’t quite get your negative comments about “for those who can sell?” I don’t want to judge but are you over compensating for something? Just so you know specialty pharma/biotech jobs offering 150k base and 50k target bonus are actually industry norm nowadays.

Manager here. Don’t work here if you don’t like the pay structure. I don’t want to manage a bunch of babies.

Wow for a manager you are just full of self assumptions and insecurities. Lose the controlling pissy attitude buddy. It’s for your own good. Nobody on here was getting pissy. It’s a healthy open forum about industry salary standards that you appear threatened by.

If you are well compensated and earning a strong bonus, why are you looking to leave your current employer?!? It’s called trade-offs, if you’re unhappy in your current situation and making a >$150k+ base then you may have to concede certain things to get on the track you desire. You’re a rep. No employer in its right mind is going is looking to shell out salaries that are beyond what the position commands. There are plenty of successful Derm folks that are open to the opportunity. If base salary is your sole determinant of job worth, then it’s probably not a good fit.

Again your entire post is filled with your insecure self assumptions. If you are a so called manger like you claim, you have no emotional intelligence and let your insecurities get in your way. Not hating just basing on your responses. Get off your high horse it’s exposing your flaws. Peace out

not a manager. Not quite sure I understand. All I’m saying is >$150k for a pharma rep is in higher end of salary range. If you’re in that range and looking, and finding that you’re not getting to finals it’s because there other candidates just as attractive as you that don’t have the salary requirements. It should make you feel good. Your current employer thinks highly of you and has such granted you a salary that will be hard for another employer to beat...unless you’re willing to concede for other factors of the job your interviewing for. That’s all.

Good gig for those that were either cut, or those that were low pay. Amgen is toxic.

But let's not fool ourselves. We'd still all rather be at Celgene.

Kent is no Ron, that's for sure.

Amgen managers are starting to buzz about the Celgene reps leaving to competitors. Fully expect if I accept my offer here there will be some kind of repercussion

If you have a salary low enough to accept here, then believe me, Amgen won't notice.

Now if you were one of the dermatology stars, who's won 4-6 awards and already have a salary above $175k, then someone will notice.

All I’m saying is companies like Regeneron & Sanofi were offering $150-$180k for their derm immunology expansion. If this were an equivalent Opportunity you wouldn’t max out the salary at $125-$130k. And you know it’s low bc they are offering yearly stock to make up for that. Which would be fine if there was some job security Outside of 2 years, but being this is their only derm product it brings a lot of uncertainty. Either it does well and is sold off in a couple years or it does poorly and the whole salesforce gets axed. They wouldn’t be offering such high amounts of yearly equity With a lower-end salary if that wasn’t their plan. That’s why this entire thread keeps going, bc everyone sees this And what’s to confirm their suspicions. You’ll be lucky if you get that yearly equity award more than twice.
