Dermatology Expansion

Spoke to the manager. 130k is Max. 50k bonus at plan. Stocks awarded every year.

this is accurate. Reason it’s not higher is likely bc it’s not a true injectable biologic. They’re calling it the “first topical biologic” but that’s a tough sell to me when it will essentially be competing with Eucrisa in AD...

The bigger concern is the fact that it’s the only derm product in the pipeline. Whole unit will likely be sold off if the product actually ends up being successful. And (for the people that are going to spew hate over that comment) that is totally fine, I get it! But you’re going to have to pay me well too in order to compensate for that. Especially if you want the reps that can actually sell it in a soon to be crowded market. I appreciate the stock award and all but I would want the pay too in order to risk being sold off in a year or two, but that’s me.

1000%. Clear as day this is a 2-5 year gig if that until sold.. No Pharma job is safe. Tenured reps, Id stay put wherever you're at unless you want a quick run somewhere else.

In the first pharma job I had I was told over and over how we would be sold in 2 years tops. That was 8 yrs ago and they are still there! Unless your psychic, I wouldn’t bet on anything.

Says the PCP rep.

it’s very clear what this position is and what its asking for. If you’re willing to make the jump for short term equity, then you will take this but it will likely not be a pay bump for most. Most people willing to take the pay here are either trying to leave PCP (or get into derm), are currently unemployed after a layoff/reorg, or are really unhappy with their current employer.

Not entirely true. Many employed reps with derm experience are going for the job because it will be an exciting launch, not for short term equity and because they were laid off or are unhappy. These days only biologic sales gigs pay over 120k+ base at derm companies. This isn’t a break into dermatology role. Agree that for injectable biologic reps this would be a lateral move in terms of pay but not pay cut with the exception of seasoned reps making 130+. This is a pay bump for dermatology reps not currently promoting injectable biologics.

Very simply put, this role is best fit for the rep with 5 years experience making a lower base salary looking to get more specialized. Of course you always have laid off reps willing to take a pay cut to get back into the game.
