I agree with her. We are way more highly trained than a nurse- and would probably have better bedside manners than 90% of them just because we know how to talk to the public. I would definitely go head to head with any nurse in cardio- I've been selling in this space for almost 18 years numerous MOA and products. I've touched the lives of pretty much any type of patient they are going to see.
 
























The last few posts can not be serious... The rep class has gone mad if they think they are anywhere near the skill level as an RN. Besides in an office..that you visit..It's likely a CNA or MA doing what you are talking about not an RN. Even CNA/MA have more chair side training than a Rep which literally has none. If the office can even afford an RN they assisting the MD chair side w/ much more specific skilled needs. Many offices don't even have an RN. Do you people even understand your office personnel?

In most offices an RN and MA are pretty interchangeable. In fact many systems hiring more MA because they are cheaper. They don't make any decisions. In the hospital the RN comes in and checks on you and reports back to the Dr. and the CNA cleans up the shit. You don't need to be too smart to do either. Maybe its you who is overstating what these support staff do. Get to know them and you'll see not that impressive.

That said one of the largest Rheumatologist in the Southwest just texted me and we were joking that if I do get the Chinese Flu once I'm better I can come in and help out in the office. She is expecting to be short staffed. She also stated that this is looking overblown in the US as we aren't seeing the number of serious cases like in China- almost 99% of the cases are mild and don't need medical intervention.

don’t think for a second that catching covid makes you immune, no one knows and most likely won’t know until much later. Don’t be a total douche ass, there are enough pontificating their expertise.

1.) Your are mad. They are not interchangeable they are just to expensive because of their skill level and education. Your local MD office dosn't need an RN most of the time because of the patients they are seeing. All they need is a LEVEL "certified" (not even college) educated MA/CNA.

2.) The only person making any patient related decisions in the office or hospital is the MD, it's not about decision making either.

3.) In the Hospital RNs are doing all the Skilled Assisting. PICC lines, Drips assisting MD in OR and Bed side and also gather feedback from patient. Yes they do some crappy bed side jobs they hate but compared to an MA/CNA you haven't a clue.

4.) As you said your Rhem MD friend was making a joke! Which means they were joking about suiting you up. IT WAS A JOKE! Re read your writing! Dummy.

5.) NVS Reps are MAD and your post is just another example of it. By all means and I highly suggest it when you are w/ a group of RNs please tell them your perception of an RN.. see what happens next.

Not sure about that persons case or joking or not as I wasn't on the other end of that communication. But you have no clue and are greatly overstating what RN's do. Yeah I'm not going to put in a PICC line- but to think that I couldn't learn that in a day is crazy. Not that hard.

I'm definitely helping out once I get out of quarantine at our local hospital. They need volunteers with medical experience. Obviously I would be better utilized within the disease states I'm most proficient (not infectious disease...but cardio or dermatology) but I will do as they need. This is a time for us all to come together! I compare this to when I volunteered a few years ago in Costa Rica and administered flu vaccinations through my local church group. I got a free 2 week trip. I even helped with some chiropractic adjustments (non neck) with the Chiro that came with us. Trust me we are more than equipped to help and should be helping especially if we get the China flu and recover.

More madness.. as if you have medical experience, Holy Cow! HaHa.. I wish I could see the look in a Hospitals eyes when you tell them you have medical experience and could serve in Cardio. About the only thing you are honestly able to do is greet patients at the door, give directions and hand out masks and run and get the trained staff coffee and lunch!

And you could learn to insert and be qualified to place a picc lines... OMG.. just what I want when I arrive at the hospital an uneducated inexperience person who on the fly believes they can just be an RN. Do you realize an RN is an Advanced Degree that can take up to 4 years to get and you are saying you can learn procedures on the fly? OMG>

I’m a rep but worked in the ER as a nurse for 5 yrs and 1 yr before that in a private practice. It’s not as easy as this fool is implying but getting an RN isn’t an advance degree. Took me 4 yrs. Most of what you need to learn is on the job
 












I dont know if i.would do that- no one knows if you get immunity after catching covid-19. I am asking my prayer warriors out on social media to say a prayer for pharma reps, nurses, MDs and office staff that are first line responders and most at risk of catching this disease.

We are all in this together...and only by working together along with God can we defeat it!

As a pharma rep that goes in and out of offices everyday- we are first responders. We put our health at risk everyday in order to help patients. I don't think asking someone to say a prayer for us makes anyone a freak. And no one said don't wash your hands or touch your face- just pray. But in combination with prayer- its very effective. I've seen it first hand when I got hit with the swine flu. I was hospitalized and given my last rites- I was also given an IV antibiotic that wasn't approved yet- combined with my fellow worshippers and family praying for my recovery around the clock I made a full recovery.

This is one of the most delusional comments that I have ever seen. A pharma rep is a "first responder"? That's absurd! I have yet to see the plea go out for pharma reps to go help the sick and needy.
