There is a reason so many reps can't break away from pharmaceutical, because of the collecting paychecks for little work. See you think that because you are a "specialty Rep" you don't have to make more than 4 calls a day. most of you you work 4 hours a day and visit 4 doctors a day. You record fake calls at night because you you don't have samples to make you accountable for your time, and you are too busy at lunch, the gym or mall to work. In 3 months you sell maybe 60 scripts, that is less than one prescription a day. (A quarter has approx 65 working days or 520 hours) You don't sell enough product to pay for your salary or car. You are paid IC because you get paid on growth and zero to 60 is 600% growth. So do you feel special now? Oh and your 'friend' manager tells you how special you are and that you are a biotech rep. because he had a ED and likes to sit in cars dreaming of pretty Pharma reps. Wishing he could still get it up.

And you ARE special, a special kind of criminal. You accept a full-time paycheck and work part-time hours. When the company stock starts to fall because profits and sales are failing. You will blame managed care, data anyone but yourself for the companies failure. And the home office folks that you ask to wipe you asses because you are lazy and can't read. They can thank you for expense fraud, plummeting sales and and too much overhead costs. When the company goes bankrupt and they all lose their jobs, because you stole from the company. Maybe they wil send you a thank you note and tell you how special and pretty you are.

If you think that Collegium will get a big chunk of this out of the gate you have not sold in this market and you are ignorant to the factors that exist that will make your pipe dreams impossible. Look at the $ for ADF formulations that have launched in the last 18 months and bring your dreams back to reality. I don't care how good you think you are. Reality of selling in this market with DEA controlling how much opioids get shipped, allocation to wholesalers and pharmacies adds in factors you have zero control over and I know this is much different than you think.Chain pharmacies that have had distribution centers shut down and do not want to dispense and more CII opioids will have a huge impact on your business when they get a prescription and repeatedly refuse to order your drug in regardless of whether the doctor and patient want them too. and yeah, good luck stocking! Wrong in so many levels. This is why you never win. Loser mentality and ignorance of the market is what keeps you from being a winner. Doctors have been begging for a true abuse deterrent pain drug. Begging! And now they have it. 50rx/week minimum is too easy. Many managers will expect 60-70rx/week because of how wonderful and life changing this drug will be to those suffering from pain.
 






Pain patient here and med device/pharm person who has sold in the market. Appreciate the enthusiasm and I wish you the best, but remember... Most pain patients don't abuse and don't divert, and doctors not necessarily anxious to change the meds that seem to be working to some degree, since often it took a while to get to that point. You will lose credibility if you ask to switch everyone. Ask for appropriate patients and/or those whose current therapy is not providing the level of relief the patient needs and hopes for. Go slow and steady, and you'll do fine. And managers... Listen to the reps who have been in this market. They know more than you do, so be humble enough to acknowledge that. And screw what what ZS says if corporate was foolish enough to contract with them. Best of luck, and if you focus on the patient, your reward will follow.
