- yes, the unemployment rate was 8% when obama took office, and it is now 9.2%. Big Pharma started their tangible downward hill since 2004 (intangibly since 2002), when they had a lax FDA commissioner who approved drugs like Bextra, Vioxx, and also allowed drugs like Torcetrapib prematurely move from phase 2 to Phas3 (knowing fully well its toxicity in earlier stages but suppressed the truth by firing anyone who voiced concerns without any opposition from the government which was so lax and so pro pharma under republicans). The reason big pharma pushed toxic drugs like Vioxx, Bextra etc into market with the help of lax FDA commissioner, there were no genuine good drugs to replace the patent expired block busters invented/developed during Clinton administration. Pfizer still tried to push toxic drugs into phase 3 prematurely but year later we saw more than 10 phase 3 drugs terminated........There were so many layoffs announced already by the time Obama took over, and just started implementation during the next three years.......why should Obama give more incentives to big pharma when they are not coming out with new innovative drugs, plus laying off so many people?....it's time that the government stop the incentives, since most of these incentives went to people like Henry McKinnel who walked away with 200 millions for doing one of the worst jobs in the industry. he was allowed that much freedom to do the worst job because the republians were so lax in their governance all in the name of incentives to discover new drugs. Where are the new drugs? Patent exclusivity was also increased from 17 to 20 years during Bush administration YET, no NEW drugs!!!! Please, use facts not insults; it will make you look smarter. Again, I will now school you! The bush tax cuts were in 2001 and 2003. And of the Wars were bushes decision 100%. These cuts and wars account for billions of dollars in the current deficit. Bush took over with a surplus, left with trillions in debt (THATS A FACT!); No OBAMA stimulus needed, if not for the bush disasterous runaway train headed toward the cliff of economic deppression. (THATS A FACT!). Again, dont be small minded, make you argument with facts no childish insults!

Again, lets leave emotions out of this and focus on facts, there are 2 million more jobs today, than when obama took office (THIS IS A FACT!). Before over took office , we were losing hundreds of thousands of jobs per month (THIS IS A FACT!). Prior to obama taking over, we were in the midst of the worst economy since the great depression, in fact many thought that we were going to be in a depression (THIS IS A FACT!). Again, in order to speak intelligently, we must use facts, and leave emotions out of it. The man took over a country that was in complete shambles. It took us eight years of bush stupidity, to destroy us, no one can turn it completely around in just two years, that just rediculous. We are not where we need to be, but we are definately better off than we were when bush left office. If you refute this, please offer your objective data. If you are angry about pharma layoffs, well they started well before obama took office, and has little to do with govt policy. They are due to waaaaayyy to many reps hired in the first place, and still way to many exist, and the enormous patent cliffs. No emotions, no insults just facts!
