Board Certification for MSLs

You know this thread can be ended very quickly. If you think that this board certification is needed, go to any company’s website and look up jobs for MSL’s. I looked at Pfizer, AZ, GSK, BMS, and Abbvie. Not one requests board certification. I also looked at Monster, just because, and guess what, not one opening has board certification as a requirement. So, if you’d like to spend your money on this feel free. It’s a waste of money and time; it gives you no benefit in the hiring process, but hey, it’s your business and money.

Hear, hear

Very well said. Simple, to the point, and accurate. I agree with this sentiment.

When I read the last few posts it is evident that you people don't get it. Wake up!!! Becoming Board Certified in Medical Affairs is not the same as training!! You can't compare Dia to this .Apples and oranges. Bcmas establishes a minimum standard. You people clearly don't get the difference. I for one fully support ACMA and I have no vested interest by the way other than the fact that I think we are all shooting ourselves in the foot by not supporting the ACMA because this helps us long term in so many ways It's sad that a minor faction can not be supportive.

James , why don't you tell people the truth You wanted to make money with ACMA and they kicked you out because you lied about your background and now you're out there spreading lies You still work at Pfizer and you actually wanted to get BCMAS and were denied.. I know the truth about you. I'm a former Pfizer guy and I was involved in evaluating BCMAS Let's just stop right here right now.
If you're a man you will reveal yourself. Acma leadership is speaking at DIA in June. Why don't you go and debate them. But you won't because you're a coward and a liar. Plus you get paid from the other Medical Affairs organization to spread rumors. You're so unprofessional and are embarrassing yourself. I came to find out about these posts from a colleague and was shocked to see how low you would go to damage the ACMA.

When I was a kid my dream was to be a physician. I saw my dad growing up treat thousands of patients and help loved ones heal. I became so disenfranchised with the healthcare system when I myself became a doctor that I decided to pursue a career in the pharmaceutical industry. A

Take it from someone who went thru BCMAS...
Solid program , very thorough I thought. I did it to expand my knowledge and move to a hq based role. I would recommend it. It wasn't required but definitely worth it.

BCMAS is not required. If it doesn't say it in the job description (trust me, it doesn't) it's not required. BCMAS will not help you get the job. Most in the industry don't know what it is or ignore it. Spend your money at your own risk.
