Beginning of the end

Does anyone still believe in atezo as a revenue source to make up for biosimilar erosion of the big 3?
Annual sales less than $500m in 2nd full year on the market in a growing $30B market. Sales growth in 2018 a sad 4% over 2017. Will 2019 improve the picture?

Looks like the die is cast. LGI may have a short half-life.
Well....we’re still making above target bonus with our comp plan so who cares what revenue atezo brings in. BioOnc rules.

Word to the wise - don't wait on a package that may never come. GNE's moving away from that expensive proposition and will start forcing people out either with fake PIPs or by making their lives miserable so they leave voluntarily. Koolaid pitcher is almost empty - get out while you can.

You can offer ZERO proof of this because it simply is not true. More layoffs? Absolutely. A change to our severance packages? Absolutely not. Using PIPs to get rid of people who should be getting severances? Not going to happen.

As a manager I hear all sorts of rumors, but there has never been any discussion of moving away from severances packages.

If you think that then either your are just trying to stir the pot or you are not very smart. Severance packages, however generous, saves the company millions of dollars in fewer lawsuits and a destroyed moral. You think moral is bad now? Then you never worked for a "real" company that doesn't do half the things GNE does to help people leave with some dignity and safety net.

Go back under our rock troll. You need to work on your lying ... hint make it believable and based on a small kernel of truth.

There is some truth to the post with packages being removed. But not as dire as the original post.

As pharma companies loose their ability to consistently raise prices margins will suffer. As a result profits and severance packages will not be as robust as past downsizing.

Companies may also look more aggressively (depending on region and director) to terminate reps for cause. When this happens a severance package is encourage by HR to limit liability to the company. However the package is FAR LESS generous than a traditional pharma/genentech exit package. If this happens to you stand strong! Everything is negotiable.

Good luck to all. Be careful.

As a front-line manager this information is above your pay grade. You are not included in these type of discussions. You find out after the fact and the decision is already made. Thanks for your opinion anyway. Btw, you have no proof either.

One more thing Mr/Ms Mgr this is not GNE any longer, it is Roche.

Here is the translation:

I'm a high paid babysitter and got promoted by kissing up to senior management. My sales numbers and performance had no impact on my promotion.

If a rep is being targeted a manager needs to bring a case to the director. This usually takes time to build a case... Or a dumb director wants a rep gone and pressures and manger to make the rep uncomfortable to leave.

Document...Document...Document... to protect yourself from bad managers and directors...

Your response is just a bunch of maybes and ASSumptions. Again no proof, just heresay.

Oh GNE has a lessened ability to raise prices ?!?!?! Hasn't happened.

Offering a less costly package doesn't save the company much at all. You actually think they have so many layoffs coming that hey can't be handled by attrition so they are gonna turn to legally risky firing practices and reducing severance packages by, how much, 50%?

First of all the severance packages are cheap to the company. Giving an employee $100k vs $200K is not a significant enough of a savings to be worth it. It's literally just a couple of vials. Pushing people out illegally again makes no financial sense what so ever. One lawsuit and they loose millions. Multiple lawsuits and they have a real issue on their hand. And as for attrition my god GNE has always had high turn over. It's much easier to simply not refill roles. Oh and you think Roche is so stupid they would completely ruin their reputation and loose all their best people?!?! Again makes no sense.

The base raise this year was over 4.5%, bonus at an all time high, last year they upwardly adjusted many of our salaries in a mass off cycle raise. They are still building on campus. Yup sure sounds like a company that is gonna try to cheat you out of $50k on your severance offer.

So again yes the company will probably continue to reduce it's force but all this horse pucky about severance packages is just another example at all the useless and baseless crap you people on this board shoot out of you asses.

Don’t underestimate the desire to cut whichever way they can. Initial cuts, which Genentech hasn’t done in years wholesale, are always the best. Every subsequent round is less attractive. The employee investigation folks at Genentech are the dirty little secret. Everyone is afraid of them and they are only controlled by directors and managers that have a strong moral compass. Some do. Some don’t. In most companies, investigations result in ways to re-educate and change behavior. This company has investigators that thrive, thrive, on chopping heads and flexing. So no, I don’t think it will change. I think it’s a super cheap way of getting rid of at will employees. He said/she said or similar is really all they need. Add a few disgruntled folks excited about the drama and that’s the deal. Don’t feel like anyone is safe.

Best post yet - hit the nail on the head!

Got to love them 5.5% raises on a 172 base. Let the good times roll.

Funny how ass hats brag about raises that meet the cost of living increases when the Big G brags about earnings to wall street. Feeding scraps to pigs to keep them fat before the slaughter.
