Are reps location tracked?

Hey jealous HQ person.

Is your job driving between accounts all day or sitting at a desk? Why would you need a company car ? (that we pay for in payroll deductions and taxes anyway).

Do you have an actual lunch break or expected to work straight through?

One of two things is going to happen with these reps.

1. They learn to work effectively and efficiently with the resources they have and create value while making "good" money.

Or

2. They find a new line of work.

One of two things is going to happen with these executives.

1. They begin or continue to add value and appreciate what they have while making an "exceptional" living.

Or

2. They find a new company to leach from.

A vicious cunt/reasonable justice is needed in this and many other industries.

I work in Accounting and you would not believe the wine/alcohol expenses at the NSMs! This crap has to be stopped. I would cancelled all new fleet car orders and give the reps a stipend of $200 per month to lease their business cars.
Great post! We recently conducted an audit of an East Coast sales manager who was racking up high monthly car wash receipts. It appeared he was getting his car washed every 3 days! In reality, he was charging his wife's and daughters' car washes on his business expense account - - - talk about scam and a cheapskate!! Well he was forced to repay Abbvie for the bogus washes and we heard he is meeting with HR to determine future employment status. This is probably the tip of the iceberg in sales managers/reps ripping off our company.

I guess you bean counters in accounting forget that sales people produce revenue to pay your salary.

So let me get this straight - - - you pay out of your personal pocket auto insurance like the rest of the employees at HQ?!? You don't over order customer lunch items for your personal consumption at home?!? You get a flat tire driving little Susie to soccer practice and you pay for roadside assistance and a new tire out of your personal pocket?!? You work at least 40 hours per weak like the rest of the employees at HQ?!? Tell you what, reps are lazy and overpaid employees.

Communist mindset…Assuming we all have to work the same # of hours to be contributing equally. You want stable & predictable work? Stay where you are. If my territory declines I can’t “stay late” or ask a colleague to give me some of their Trx for the week…
you took Susie to soccer practice while I am at checking in a hotel 5 hours from home bc of office appointments the next day.
don’t bother with giving me other examples bc this could go back and forth…just stop being so narrow minded.

Data reveal that NYC reps rarely leave their homes for customer calls. Why do we even have reps and managers in metro New York? Doesn't make financial or ethical sense. Sorry for stating the obvious but management needs to WAKE UP.

Lol 75k? These people probably couldn’t even pass an online course. Sounds like someone is jealous they don’t have the personality to leave their cubicle and sell.

Pharma reps aren't really salespeople. Someone referred to a pharma rep as a customer service representative and that would be an accurate description of the position. You really do not need a college degree to perform this job. Give me a homeless bum and 50K and in 3 years he/she will be a top performing abbviE rep.

Sure thing cubicle slob

Be honest, do you really believe you sell? Over 60% of US MDs do not see pharma reps. That number will increase in the near future and Rx plans are determining what a doc can actually prescribe. Old business model that needs to be retired.

I’ve been doing that for years and more. How about buying diesel fuel for my GF F 350 and marine fuel for my speedboat?

It pays to know what yous are doing.

The second a pharma rep believes that he/she is a salesperson they become a liability to the company. Moreover, a pharma rep should never be engaged in a clinical discussion about a medicine with a physician. Not today’s pharma rep anyway.

Once again bean counter showing how removed you are from the world. If we are given clinical studies to sell from then those discussions are within compliance. Now get back to your quick books training.

Odds are favorable that the study you were given is biased and so to is your interpretation of the findings and results.

Interesting Stats, did you read that in your edition of Ive Got A Hard On for Pharma Reps? RX plans already dictate what providers prescribe, but thanks for stating the obvious for the last 15 plus years. News flash…it’s not an old business model. It works because if pharma companies could actually move share through phone sales or exclusive virtual sales reps, we would have been replaced a long time ago. Nothing replaces a face to face interaction with an HCP—that moves share and relationships. Least not forget that your high and mighty self is making a living off of the drugs we sell, if the drugs didn’t sell you’d be working in the basement with your red stapler.
