I am still trying to get used to it. My new boss is also named Greg and it is hard getting used to leaving a voice mail or email asked for him to get back with me and the new Greg actually gets back to me.

I ran into an old Medline rep I worked with years ago and out of the blue he confirmed that Greg Smith was the worst manager ever and still wonders how he has a job. But we had a great time at the game and both glod we got away from Medline and Greg.

Haven't you beat up on him enough? Anyone willing to go to this extreme to tear him down specifically should have the balls to put their own name behind their comments. Cowardly act.
Whether you had a bad experience with him or not his success over decades speaks for itself. He deserves better than to be smeared like this.

That is the problem, he has not had any success over the decades. He was on his way out of GL sales because he could not hack it. So he jumped to HC to save his job. Now he just does not know when to leave the dance and has ruined many good reps to save his sorry hide. The family just lets him stay on because he know too much dirt. The only success he has had over the years is being able to save his job at the cost of many others.

Why should he/she have to give up their name? They aren't bashing specific people in the company genius. I agree Greg is being painted with a unfair brush. None the less it's pointless to defend him as this is the internet. People are going to say whatever they want regardless of the person.

Most successful sales people make it because of their desire to make a better life for themselves and their families. Whether or not they have a good manager is hardly the reason they were successful or not. Blaming Greg for your failures is a cop out. Any successful rep at Medline would agree.

No I'm not a manager...a veteran rep who has been with the company a very long time.
 






It is common practice that competitors come on these boards to create havoc and negative publicity. Greg and his team have dominated the Midwest for years and it's likely many if not all of these comments aren't coming from ex reps at all. I'm sure McK and the others would like nothing more than to see Greg out of the picture as he and his group have dominated his area.

Why not stand up and say who you are? Most likely you are Greg himself. The only dominating of the Mid-West has been in the states where #1 Greg did not do any of the hiring TN or states that he turned over to Pat Twowig OH WV MI. All the stated that Greg has have been going downhill for years under his lack of managment. Any rep who ever deared complain about his lack of leadership got fired. Greg is the only manager who ever stood before his reps three promo meeting in a row and said 'you know I have not been a very good manager' if I am lying I am dying. Only a person who knew the family would never fire them would say such a thing. Many a good reps careers were cut short by him. I guess the only good thing he did was get them out of Medline so they could prosper elsewhere. And most of them have.

Wow, just stumbled on to this site looking for information on another company and have to say its good to know Medline hasn't changed at all. As for the worst manager smitty gets my vote. I worked for Smitty for many years and I don't hold anything personal against him but I didn't think his management style worked for me. I always liked him personally, but hated dealing with him as a manager.

On Monday phone calls, he would tell me I had to work on something and then the very next Monday, he would say the exact opposite. Now I think I am pretty good, but I didn't solve my territories problems in a week. He bounced around like crazy. But he was always good for a good drunken mistake at sales meetings. Could always count on Smitty to get the rumor mill moving. I wonder how many female sales reps could have sued him for harassment.

Oh well, good to know he is still at Medline. I am sure this post will get torn apart, but I don't care. I got a great laugh reliving some of the drunken nights with smitty at sales meetings. Glad I wasn't married back then.
 






At the end of the day Greg is a person. He has a family and has invested well over 25 years with the company. Although he's not perfect who among us is? All of us have strengths and weakness and areas where we excel and areas where we don't. All of us.

Agree....not even any meat left to pick on his bones. Good guy who's been a big part of the success of the company. Deserves to be said as well.

Oh, I don't need to pummel Greg, he has to live with his mistakes. And everything I said is common knowledge and he has admitted. But to your point, I felt a need to add my 2 cents and now I am done.
