Abbott Vascular Clonmel

make no mistake when it re opens there will be less people work'n up der., the stuff we make aint selling so lets be real here as we are along way from seeing the end of this virus.
place is shut down now and when we get back onto the lines the social distancing still wont be right. They will be breaking the law and will not be able to get away with it, hence people will either be left go or that stupid night shift will continue. wud not b surprised if only 1 or 2 lines will run for a while

Big changes to come. Layoffs planned. Boston's cut back hours and pay. Temps let go. Abbott to follow. It's just the times we are living in.
No redundancies happening that's for definite.
Enough temps to let them go instead of paying big money's out

Not taken redundancy during this anyway no chance, the world doesent know its head from its arse at this stage.
The fairest thing to do is
1-make the temps permanent ASAP because they actually want to work for the company.
2-Let 100 longterm staff leave they have served time it wouldn't cost anymore than 10 million. It will reduce wage expenses in the longterm.
3-reduce hours of all staff to 2 or 3 day a week for 6 weeks.
4-make all toilets gender neutral as it goes against the concepts of the modern world.
5-when a county wins an all ireland allow people the day off to celebrate. (it's important part of Irish culture)
6-show major sporting events in the factory. The last event ye allowed us to watch was Katie Taylor wining gold in the Olympics. Best occasion in work and was fantastic for moral.
7-explain what's going on better, all we get is hearsay or a leak and I'm sick of the whispers on the floor.
8-minium wage is going up from 10.10 to 12.30 in next 3 years. We should all expect a 20% payrise between now and 2023 that means if you earn 500 a week now it should be 600 a week in 2023
9-pay for college courses that are not just engineering, supply chain or hr. People have other interests and may want to learn italian, Spanish,Irish, literature, history and economics for example.
10-most importantly close the factory for the good of our health not because ye can't sell the product. (it scares people hearing that)

Honestly I don't care what happenes inside in Clonmel, it's a joke of a place they haven't given a free choc ice in about 3 years they gave out magnums 1 year thought I won the lottery. I'd be happy with a loop the loop at this stage, its scandalous but I'm happy we closed because its the safest thing to do.
I suppose its a question of when temps get laid off it only a matter of time but permanent staff should not have to take a cut in wages or hours just to keep them in a job. They should be let go to preserve the permanent positions. Iv no problem taken a cut in wages or hours as long as temps are given the road. I don't see why anybody in a permanent position should have to sacrifice part of income to keep them in a job. Otherwise they should all get permanent positions sales are destroyed for the year our production is stopped. Its a very bad situation they can't play games with this decisions need to be made and made quickly, we can't just go back for a week or 2 and see how things go. It's a new world and we will be restricted in terms of expansion because of health and safety but no point in expanding when demand is not dere. We are closed to allow the leaders to make decisions as to how they want to progress, we need to see how it plays out but if they going to cut staff they should do it quickly to allow people move on plenty of jobs going in health service so whatever decisions are made it needs to be communicated and honesty is the best approach but they have other facilities in Ireland and a chance to transfer should be given first and foremost before anyone gets canned alot of people would consider a move to another abbott facility in Ireland especially because they have unions.
