I didn't mean everyone is driving around in ferrari I meant everyone is making a decent living. It's open forum and it's important business for my town. If all ye are laid off the government will cover 70% of wages which will be claimed back by companies after this is over. I think they should force ye all to take 2 weeks hoilidays because your employer can legally do that. I wish you all the best but abbott have been in Clonmel for 20 odd years and if yous don't have Union by now you can forget about it. By reading the comments here management have you all in back pocket by the sounds of it talking with a few lads I know who work up there they say people are scared s***less to approach management about a union. Keep the unions out of the place they ruin good structured business.
 












I could actually name all the idiots on this forum. All working in Abbott over 10 years and do SFA every day only bullying younger employees and constantly give out making it hard for us to work beside and try enjoy a days work while earning alot more money than us also. I work in DES and they have reduced lines down and my sup told us Friday that they were moving equipment over the weekend to try make it better again (not sure if happened or not, we will find out in the morning). I am happy with it now and happy to go to work. Most people just want two weeks off and think that we will be paid in full which won’t happen either. most of the country would love to have their job to go to on Monday and we have clowns here just looking to cause trouble as normal. Wish these people would just leave Abbott and do everyone a favour and would a nice place to work

He's not a million miles off, the amount of wasters in abbott is unreal, you could have written out atleast 10-15 people who had to "self isolate" from day 1 where I work and guess what? They rang in day 1 that they had to self isolate cause their neighbours nephews dog had a cough.

There is many wasters..its absolute truth..but you cant treat every person same way mate..better check info from other countries,and open your eyes..its not a joke or new reality show budd...but maybe work is everything you have..so cmon do the numbers!get wages that you will get monies to cover bill for your funeral..peace mate!
 






























I don't think it's very fair to be calling people clowns and painting everyone with the same brush. Sure some people would love the place to close just to get the 2 weeks off but there's a good few people who have compromised immune systems or underlying problem that could be fatal if the virus is contracted.

I have severe underlying which means if I got the virus,there is a high potential that i could die from it. I am terrified and I'm sure loads of people in abbott are too. We are scared. We may make pharmaceutical devices but there is an inventory there of thousands of already made products so I'm sure two weeks wont put a dent in it. If money is more important than our lives and the lives of my children and those around me I dont know what to think.

Hopefully they will do something, we will soon be worse than Italy or Spain
 






If the crowd we worked for acted appropriately during this then nobody would of come on here and made any comments. This is all on them. People are angry, upset, terrified and some have flipped. These are all normal human emotions for the most part I enjoy my job but what choices do we have if we say anything in work we get crucified by everyone. We are entitled to our opinions alot of the so called lazy workers on the line are doing so out of protest or maybe they struggle with job. If you judge an elephant on how he/she climbs a tree then we are not thinking like people. We are all different some people are better at certain tasks than others and I think abbott are brilliant at recognising that. Fair play to Boston for not putting health of employees at risk. Nobody agreed to work in Abbott if it was going to put our health at risk. Its a bit like if I gave you 100 skittles and told you only 3 would kill you. How many skittles would you eat? The answer is none because you would not risk it and nobody should we are not on the front line. We are not doctors or nurses. We are ordinary workers who don't want our employers to damage our health or both us in harms way they can't guarantee 2 meters between everyone at all times. Even supervisors and engineers enter personal space.
 






If 5 lads started a brawl on the line all 5 employees would be fired over fighting because it puts health and safety of everyone at risk yet with a invisible disease the biggest threat is myself or my colleagues. Its not safe people could get sick and some could die. Why are they risking it, we are in the business to save lives not take them away.
