What has gone on in VC and DES over the last 2 nights is shocking, potentially sick people working for half a shift before being carted out and sent home to isolate themselves but no line shut down to clean any work stations/lines/doors/pc's etc. You might as well go in there with a gun with one bullet in it and start pulling the trigger eventually someone will get hit. People need to stick together and refuse to work until properly controlled safe practice's are in place and the correct social distance can be maintained in the workplaces. That's the law now.
 






It's so upsetting some people don't care. It's a money making pit. Operators are easily replaced that's why they don't care about anybody.
Having meetings on line and we all beside each other like nothing is wrong. The canteen seating is set up to look good. That's all they have done.

Abbott clonmel you are a disgrace.
All the office staff are working home. They don't even work that close together anyway.
Everyone should walk out and insist on the regulated working conditions of 2 m apart and that includes our supervisor coming over your shoulder to talk to you

Morning all. Another day working in one of the best companies to work for in Ireland. "built as if intended for my family" but if I die from the coronavirus or I pass it on it's ok because we are a medical device company saving lives every day. They won't even give staff a medical masks to protect themselves.

Do the right thing Abbott and close for a little while. You have plenty stock to keep going. Saving lives is what you do. How about start with your own staff that keep the money rolling in.

Don't be expecting a shingo anytime soon after the way you treating workers.

Shares will get back on track.

Bullying temporary staff into going onto a 12 hour shift on the weekend with no extra pay or incentive to do so absolute disgrace of a company they dont give a shit about anyone up there once the money is rolling and they look good thats all they care about the health and welfare of employees is non existent wankers !!

Don't think Abbott will ever offer redundancy again. They wouldn't please people because they know so many would leave.

Nothing will be done because the government are looking after them. Including a great tax incentive.
 






The level of intimidation used to bully temp staff into that shift is serious. All too afraid to say no for fear they won't be offered a contract extension. They can't move people without the worker agreeing so they picked the temp staff and intimidated them into agreeing. They haven't even outlined the conditions of employment and sent everyone home.

Can you confirm this? From what I see mangement are trying their best to curb the spread of the virus, reducing headcount on lines, spacing out ops a little bit better, putting on extra shifts etc.... it's the supervisors and that aren't pulling their weight to help. They are all worried about numbers and looking good. People have to realise that they have a factory in Costa Rica who are probably praying Clonmel closed and they can take up the slack and of that happens then it will put the Clonmel factory in jeopardy!!! If supervisors are acting the prick with operators go to your manager and voice your concerns there instead of bitching and moaning.
 






I have voiced my concerns and all I'm getting is "yes I understand, I'll pass that on". Falling on deaf ears. They have the temps over a barrel and they can't stick up for themselves.

Management are doing nothing to curb this. The only reason there might be social distancing in some places is because people are off. We were told last week we are not to be moved to cover other lines who have absent ops to reduce the possible spread, but what's happening this week? Musical stations and lines. Still expecting people to cover breaks without any cleaning being done. Nothing has been done in DES. Canteen is apparently up to scratch but nobody in around assembly lines to check.
 






Most operators are polish anyway they watched on as the Germans put a load of Jews into concentration camps and gas chambers.

Now they have tours to these concentration camps which is worth billions to the polish economy. This alone would justify management decisions.

The Polish workers never complain its always yes and thank you. These people abandoned their own country for exotic ireland to treble wages these guys don't care if 2 or 3 die over virus. It's a sacrifice for greater good they know if they die abbott will pay next of kin loads of cash.

So be smart be like the Polish.

The operators really need to make the management realise that they won't forget this. The way they've treated people today is nothing short of bullying.
Operators should just go into work from now on. Don't get involved with all the stupid CI huddles they have. Don't give a shit about anything that's more then what your core job is.
Stop supporting the charity of choice and contribute to the charity as a group of Abbott workers separate to the company. Withdraw the salary commitment straightaway. Send a real message to them.
Also definitely time for Abbott clonmel workers to engage with a union. Especially as we are probably facing another recession in the coming years.
 






This forum has certainly hit a new low. Whatever about this business, this forum should be managed to ensure that the type of racist bigoted comments seen in this thread are dealt with.
