Hahahaha! Kudos to you old boy! You converted one doctor. 3-4 stick per case x however many cases that guy does per month/year. I hope he was a heavy volume surgeon because us big boys can't be bothered with chasing cases for $40-60 per case. That doesn't even cover parking for the day in my area. Now get out there and sell some FiOS!!!
The only 'Team Members' who do well are family members (exclude owners daughter, she is here to have built in freinds) and married in or very very close friends of the family. The rest of us are here to make them rich. I would give my name but i still work here to pay my bills while I look elsewhere.
.....Almost everyone I encountered at this dump was dumber than the last; from the CEO, to senior mgmt, to my ZM, to my DM, to my product specialist. ....
Well thank god you were the only brilliant one there! Everyone must have been dumb as shit to have hired you in the first place, ehh?

All I have to say is WOW! I left this company, run by incompetant morons, a few months ago and haven't looked back until now. My customers questioned my move going to Applied from the beginning and were hesitant to do business with me because of the bad reputation they have. I took their advice and left after a yr and came on here to see if anything has changed and doesn't appear so. Almost everyone I encountered at this dump was dumber than the last; from the CEO, to senior mgmt, to my ZM, to my DM, to my product specialist. The entire organization is bad news at every level and I'm glad to see it's still the same idiots running the asylum!
Here is my assessment:
Financials: compensation is low, commission potential is overstated and nearly impossible to max out, comp plan changes often..to minimize the amount the company has to actually pay out.
Career Path: there is potential to move around within the company, that is of course if you can stick it out through numerous quarters and years of the comp plans. Here is the most frustrating thing, you WILL NOT be coached to be a better sales person as mgmt doesn't have the capacity or willingness to do so. This is what is sad because most reps are young and all they get from mgmt is threats and sleepless nights waiting for the ax to drop on your head if one of your hospitals pulls contract on you, etc. There is ZERO leadership here and No positive reinforcement is ever given to individuals or the team, ever
Culture: its simply an odd company, never seen anything like it. Simple things are made extremely complicated and those who work here understand what I mean. Your expense reports are nickel and dimed so extremely you either rip your hair out in frustration or just have to laugh. Oh and the "company match 401k"!! Oh this is a good one, they claim they offer 401k match but when you read the fine print, here is what it really is: Applied Medical will match 25cents to your dollar..but wait it gets better. Thats 25cents to your $1 of your annual salary..UP TO 2%!!! So for the sake of easy numbers, lets say you make 50k, 2% is $1000. So Applied Medical matches 25cents on that $1000. So annually Applied Medical contributes a grand total of $250 to your 401k!!!! Haha, great company match.
Products: Trocars are trocars, enough said. The Gel platforms are actually pretty good. 5mm Clip still doesn't work properly and shouldn't be being used in surgery yet its pushed hard by mgmt. Alexis wound protectors, like the Gel line is also a bright spot.
Pipeline: Energy! Haha. Who knows if this ever launches in the US (been supposedly coming out for years) but is still supposed to be the next "big" product. This is going to be so interesting when it happens because of many reasons. #1) Mgmt thinks they are going to hand off an energy platform to those who've never sold energy before and this is sad, they'll be setup for failure 99/100 times. #2) they will sell soley on price with a me too platform (i.e. similar to Ligasure). Yet mgmt thinks existing contracts and purchased inventory of generators, etc won't be an issue. Huge huge mistake #3) among all mgmt team at applied across multiple divisions, maybe 5% has experience of their own selling energy.
Use two sticks to make it in Malaysia! If a trocar is a trocar then why are the battles for it so contested and why do surgeons cherish their pick and fight tooth and nail for it? Those battles are proof that in fact the "Big Dogs" do consider Applied Medical real competition. As the "Big Dogs" get bigger through acquisitions it furthers the need for aleash.
Without a shadow of a doubt there has not been issues with the glue on gelports or gelpoint. On the contrary I would contend that the cill is the product with issues in its rigid design and cuff like capacity that limits the surgeons field of action. What new products have the "Big Dogs" released into the market in the past five years?

Dave McElroy. It's surely not the incompetant twit who has a brother that is his boss. That kid couldn't find his way out of a paper bag if you have him a map with step by step directions. Someone tell me how he is still employed here please?
Commodity's rule Time Square in New York if you ever vacation you will see that for yourself. Commodity products to me means that there is opportunity to be had when Trocars to many of the surgeons aren't like a commodity. Long term is the cost savings that adds up as time goes by as is the clinical benefits of the Gelport and Gelpoint for the patient upfront; those facts create a market for a smaller private company like Applied. What's the future for reprocessed trocars?
Feeling your frustrations but as I kick the dust off my boots and sit at the table to rest my weary legs it appears that I have two choices in front of me. Yesterday during my neighborhood magic show I was asked to pull a rabbit out of a hat. Unfortunately I don’t have a rabbit only a squirrel and oddly enough I don’t have a hat I have a bandanna so I’m sure that you can imagine how that went. Before me on the table is the delicious Kentucky Fried Chicken extra crispy batch of moist chicken parts and Popeye’s Louisiana home made morsels of goodness. Which is better? Its hard to tell; they both have their own flavors that permeate the room and fill my belly and leave me satisfied. The point of this is simple I need my drive paved but aint got no money to cover the costs meanwhile chicken is cheap and always taste good when someone else makes it.
This absurdum is sort of the reason why Applied Medical wins business at a hospital.
