This is true. I'm in HQ finance and exactly this was waiting for me this morning. Not a word from my manager, just an email from Peter Kellogg. Pathetic.
 




OP here. Unfortunately this site has turned into a place to make stuff up, provoke fear across the organization and trash people at all levels of the organization. I only wish that it was instead a place to provide the truth, the insight into what is really happening. Then again would it not be great to have to have senior management providing this transparency versus some message board that anyone can post to? With that said I have no further information on what is next. As I have said before I can only share rumors and speculation which does not do anyone any good. A few facts...tomorrow, friday october 4, hand raiser forms are going out in HQ marketing, all CBL's. On Monday we will learn more about MRL prioritization, field sales prioritization. Listen to what senior mangement is saying - pick up on their cues and don't be naive. Go back to what I said previously about Ford, Blackberry, etc. and the stories that the company has posted. Take care of yourself and take care of your families.

Field sale here, I appreciate the heads up weeks before... I knew cuts were come but am so detach from any extra accurate information. appreciate any accurate info on vaccine sales people... Or anything coming down. Thanks
 












Dear OP. I don't visit this site often. Thank you for your courage in providing these posts. I in vaccine field sales. Management is running around preaching the vaccine field personnel are safe. Thoughts?
 




OP here. No new information from HQ. One thing that I can tell you is that dignity and respect are out the window. People that are being let go are being told that their positions have been eliminated. No further explanation, no additional detail, they're dismissed as if they are...and have been useless to the company...kicked to the curb. I am talking good and great people, not the bottom of the barrel as those at the bottom have already been cut. Hearing the stories, seeing their faces and the good buy hugs and embraces is heart breaking. Maybe instead of the typical stories that are featured in Sync about poor people in Africa that can't get vaccinations, or moms that can't get access to healthcare we should focus on those that are let go from Merck and the life that they and their families now face. On behalf of my friends and colleagues at Merck that have been or will be let go...

Hi OP. Reading this thread you stated, "I can confirm that on Monday, October 7 the prioritization of the company will be officially announced and this will help bring further clarity." I'm in the field and must have missed the memo. Did they announce something or have I missed a webcast?

Currently, I have no idea what the prioritization of our company is. Can you either point me to the communication or enlighten me?

Next level announcements were expected tomorrow but will be made either Thursday or Friday of this week at the latest. This will give you a greater sense of the structure, who is in and who is out. Recent downgrades on the stock are putting a lot of pressure on senior management so expect the unexpected. We had anticipated a broader announcement around prioritization but that did not come. Prioritization has been done but for some reason it has not being broadly disseminated. Preliminary review of the 5 year plan for CV and Respiratory franchise look miserable, so for the field sales team...beware. That's all for now and I will share any and all relevant information as it becomes available.

Expect a big announcement early next week. Significant downsizing in the 20-25% range globally. Additional information will come on therapeutic priorities from MRL, GHH, etc. other shake ups occur including senior leadership changes that are well overdue. Good luck to all of my friends and colleagues.

Well ya: Respiratory-Nasacort just went OTC (loss of 1.3 Billion worth of Nasonex) , Generic Advair (loss of 320 million worth of dulera) / CV - Zetia and vytorin patent expires Dec 2016 (loss of 4.4 billion) And.... you were expecting?

Speaking of facts the next level of announcements will be made on Thursday. Originally this was planned for today but EC+1 was not ready. Conference call is already on my calendar and given some unforeseen surprises this will happen. What we are hearing inside is that a majority of the cuts in HQ will happen by mid November, Thanksgiving week at the latest. Maybe as part of the severance they will give us a coupon for a free turkey to be redeemed at our local supermarket. All I can say is that this is...ding, ding...round three in the last four years. What has changed? Nothing. On Thursday we will hear about the next level of chairs shuffling on the titanic. Expect the same names but in different chairs. As for other departments, trust no one and nothing anyone says. Protect yourself and your families and do not wait for the company to determine you are no longer needed, it is just a matter or time so plan accordingly.

The Animal Health division has been making money for Merck from day 1 and helping Merck stay afloat.

Do you know how to read a balance sheet? The FACT is that AH will generate a whole lot more in the form of a spinoff or sale. Look Pfizer up, their plan is working like gangbusters. Of corse that means it's time for Merck to follow. I work for MRK btw, not PFE.

The Muriel (or however it was spelled) didn't keep MRK afloat, either or we would never have sold it to get L-SGPs AH unit.
