Worst Managers?

Dear HR,

Please use this opportunity to reorganize Genentech and get rid of the worst performing managers. You know who they are - high turnover of their team (due to THEIR ineptness), consistent poor sales performance, maybe you've even had complaints.

Don't continue to reward bad performers with years, maybe decades, of bad behavior and mediocre sales with continued employment.

You have an obligation to do the right thing, or you too are part of the problem, not the solution.

Sincerely,

GNE employee

Forget HR.. just turn the bad managers over to the Swiss ethics 800#, also report HR reps by name when they lie to you or cover up for a manager. The Swiss love firing American management.

The problem with JJ is and was, he turned good people into bad ones i.e. KR(RSD), DC(DM), PP(DM retired),RM(DM), MK(DM) and he brought in crazy people like CS(DM). I need one more layoff in 3 years and I'll be ready to leave the crazy farm.

Haha Southern Charm.....I have to disagree with you on this one as a couple were like that when they were CSs......

This article reminds me of old-school GNE management. I had some great managers here but such a shame big pharma sociopaths have been allowed in. We see the sad results daily. Thanks to those of you who still believe in serving your teams. HR are you paying attention?

Unfortunately many of those promoted to manager through the ranks from the field are as bad as the imports from Pfizer and the like. They quickly forget where they came from and turn into sales experts overnight though they in many cases were middle of the road at best.

The best sales reps often do not make great managers. The jobs are different, and require different skills and temperament.
Totally agree but should be heavily vetted - especially if coming from outside GNE. We've inherited too many disasters from other companies who were glad to see them go. And so was their HR.

Maybe but JJ was a bully and a narcissist. If you were part of "the club" you were golden. If not, God help you.

I believe he has a big ego, but he is a fairly bright individual. The bully comment can be said about many of the managers, because they believe in management by intimidation. Unfortunately, that was the management style of some of the managers who came from Roche too. They never truly learned how to manage and not play favorites.

The way I see it if you could have been your own person working for JJ maybe the respect for you would have been different. I had him as a regional, and yes, old school with teacher mentality but thats good as long as you learn from it and evolve with the times, which sometimes I wasn't sure he did, however, he had a good heart, so my perception of bully etc is on the person who allowed him to do that. Aren't you able to stand on your on two feet? Not that you are negative and go against him but people in sales manipulate everyday. he just manipulated you.....

JJ a good manager!! Yea, thats why things are so good now, he put good people in place and they are still idiots, I mean managers here. JJ was not a good manager, he got lucky when Genentech needed people to stay years ago because other companies would not take him. Don't kid yourself.
