There is no shortage of novartians lining up to slobber all over Vas, even when he's posting that its time to fire 10,000 people.

At what point did these clowns sacrifice their final ounce of self-respect?

I believe this reduction will impact every division/role as stated. I do not believe Managers have say in anything. Too subjective, They have no power in day to day job, let alone a massive restructuring that needs to make sure keeps the right number of over a certain age, diversity, women, men, blah blah….

If a Manager is ranking reps, that part of it prob accounts for less than 5% of all the legal factors that have to addressed. Novartis puts the names, demographics, pay, whatever else in a big computer program that then spits out names of who stays and goes. Your Manager loving you won’t save you if the other factors don’t align for Novartis. Your Manager hating you also won’t matter if benefits Novartis in some other way to keep you around.
Good luck all!

Just gotta hope you live in your territory and nobody else does.

You all that think sales is safe are crazy. Yes, prob safe for 6 months, maybe a year. They hired big to launch in crm and then of course will scale back. Never launch a drug before? It’s how it always works. Way too many of us. We are tripping over each other and have to have a million conference calls each week to discuss who doing what and which reps going to a lunch that the css counterpart, hospital rep, wants to go to as well as an FRM, manger riding with someone, etc. Plus, current CRM structure has been weird for awhile. Hospital reps reporting to css managers. All in same pay band. Many CSS Managers never walked into a hospital let alone manage reps that do. Not to mention 12 CRM regions nationwide. An East and West VP of sales? Novartis kept people sitting around doing nothing waiting for the year delay in launching Leqvio. You don’t think there are plans to recoup those lost dollars via head count down the road. Easiest way to save $.

My manager and regional texted me. I am safe. They force ranked us during reviews. Good luck, it is done.

Uh ask Neuro reps that got cut…..rank meant jack shit. ABL’s and RD’s had ZERO say in cuts. Only VP was included in discussions. People literally won president’s club a week before they were let go. Several winners. If anyone is telling you rank will save you they are lying. It was all done externally by ZS. Geographic proximity was number one thing they looked at…..not rank, not tenure.

I really hope they cut out those waste of time reimbursement directors and FRMs that were aligned with beovu.

Worthless worthless worthless

cut that over paid salary group hard!

These points are all true but have nothing to do with last week’s announcement. Do you this the reorg will accelerate what will happen to the CRM division? I don’t as the org still needs to give the sales force time to launch. It’s way too early to make significant change to the division.

You are forgetting. Novartis is a box checking company, not results focused. I think the reduction across all divisions comes around sept/oct time. There will be significant layoffs with this reorgs. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

This thread is all fantasy. Home office people should be worried but not the field. We are currently hiring tons of reps and do not have a hiring freeze. Stop the fear!
When you bust through the wall do you yell “ohhhhh yeahhhhh” because the kool aid has been drank with that statement. You think every layoff is preceded with a hiring freeze? Doesn’t mean anything. Don’t believe any upper management or middle management. Upper will give answers that would make politicians proud and middle have as much knowledge as field reps. They don’t go through something like this to just change home office. They do it to make fundamental changes to the entire organization from top to bottom. Its gonna hit every division. The question is to what extent and that is a question only the upper elite execs can answer but wont.

This is the correct answer. Cuts will be brutal. Credible sources saying cuts will be so bad that retention will be serious problem by end of year and early 2023. Expect a shock and awe situation.

MS rep here. They told us that head count reduction would be minimal and we had the perfect headcount. They cut almost 20 percent. Several reps that were retained live 2 hours from their territory or in a different state. Severance was good. We found out about the cuts a day before.

What was the MS severance package?

The severance package is posted on the intranet. Find it and familiarize yourself with it now. There is a basic severance (which I interpret to be for one offs) then there is the “enhanced severance” for mass layoffs. It was based on number of years with Novartis, but many who got let go joined Nov only 3 1/2 years ago to launch Mayzent. Minimum severance was roughly 7 months. If you were a long timer, you got more based on years service. Removed from the field immediately (mid Feb), but still considered active employee (full pay and benefits) through May . Then 4 months severance after that, Benefits continue as employee through May, but available through COBRA (with Novartis subsidizing, so at our regular contribution rate) for 4 more months. After that we can continue COBRA for the remainder of the 18 months at our expense. I was cut, but feel blessed to have such a generous severance. Many reps who have been laid off from other companies got much less. It was one of the very few things that Novartis did well. We were definitely blindsided and led to believe no headcount reductions - from all levels. But so many reps from other companies have recently been cut, that the competition for jobs is brutal.
