The leader of the sales team is a strong leader and knows his business, but there is this: 80% of them are white males, 95% of RSDs and AVPs are male, maybe 18% white females are among the sales staff and 99.9% of the sales staff are straight and this is a San Francisco based company! That said, there are some male sales leaders of color, but the EVP of sales is ultimately responsible for this (non) diversity.
The current Marketing and CX leader is a narcissistic jerk who was fired from AliveCor and is now hiring all his friends and agencies to help him out at iRhythm. So many people in Marketing have left or have recently been let go: the latest headcount reduced are a black, a brown and a gay. Very interesting ...but, maybe not considering the current frat boy in charge.
The HR Exec is rumored to be the former HR admin, and although there are 1 or 2 more females on the Executive Team, they all sat in the back row of our latest Global Sales Meeting for the "ask the exec" portion of the sales meeting. This is how the women of the Exec team are thought of obviously ...and they didn't get to answer many questions from that back row...
It's a 'boys club' at the C-level, the sales level and the marketing level.
It should be mentioned that the R&D department is approx 50% women, very diverse in all ways, full of super-smart people, and run by the smartest and most actualized leader of the Exec team.
The above isn't that unusual for med-tech companies in the Bay Area to be honest, but when I first came onboard at iRhythm I was more hopeful. I'm out as soon as I find my next opportunity ...
