Who ruined the culture of Astellas?

The growth of "do nothing" middle management positions filled by an endless parade of big pharma retreads. All wind up with the same genius biz plan "lets make a tracker!". All knee-jerk reacting to the weekly number instead of seeing the broader picture. This job is a marathon not a sprint. We are here to own our markets not to chase the weekly numbers rabbit. What were the Japanese thinking? This was once a great place to work. Now it's just a pathetic shell of its former self. With a better job market, turnover would be >50% by now. This used to be the best job I'd ever had.

This is the best response so far.

Nobody ruined it, Pharma industry has been sliding downhill for years, its all about the money..with generics, gov't and insurance calling the shots it no more easy money with some spin off old products in new wrapper...... Used to be selling legal DRUGS was easy money (ask any Oxycontin rep what their bonus was back in the day),

Here we go again with negativity and anger! Grow up and be a man - - - you shape the course of your life!! By continuing to use excuses, you will fall further down the hole of failure! Make a change for the POSITIVE!!

This thread is for those of us who remember what a great place to work we had and have watched it be systematically destroyed be cliche'd empty suits. That's not an excuse. It's an explanation. Would be wise to learn the difference. Sell the Tony Robbins crap somewhere else.

When you bring in rejects from other Big Pharma companies who have no people skills and are afraid of their own shadows...

When you bring in lying weasels to perform HR functions whom have no decency or souls and are the scum of the Earth....

When you have RA directors/managers who cannot get approvals for new drugs...

When you have QA management hiding results & passing off bad products as good product...

That is your recipe for disaster...

Whine! Whine! Our sales force is comprised of cry babies!! Wa! Wa!!

hmm, Not just a sales force problem though... Many areas of the US-IL departments were having problems.

There was clearly a culture-shift to hire "high performers" (cough-cough) during a down turned economy. People that needed their new jobs so bad, that they would be aggressive with employees to get more work out of them --> Culture Change.

Funny thing about grabbing people during a bad economy, you often get the left-overs from other companies.

Everyone loves the culture at Astellas. Whenever a culture feeds on fear, intimidation, lack of respect, lack of trust, backstabbing, and a general feeling of malice toward employees one can be assured that the company will continue to be a destination for more incompetents to augment our current senior management . Can't wait to hear all the wonderful news at the NSM. Perhaps we would be better served if we held the meeting in Fantasyland. What a total sham.

Johnson & Johnson did!! All of their washed up, has been, worthless managers and directors some how infiltrated our company. They brought their old dusty binders of bad ideas which helped to drive our industry into the state it is now...a JOKE! Do ASD's get extra PIP points at the end of the year based on how many bad acronyms they come up with to annoy the field sales reps?

Interesting thread to read. It seems that many groups are unhappy with the culture of Astellas - Med Affairs, Sales Force, Human Resources, G&A Technology, etc...

Seems to be an HR hiring problem all around.

HR should quit picking other pharma company rejects hoping to learn a magic secret. They hired jaded people that are preservationists and play hardball to make themselves look good at other people's expense.
