WHEN ARE WE GETTING LAWSUIT CHECKS IN THE MAIL?

The last time I spoke with the law firm(Sanford, etc) I was told that the checks would be mailed in the first 2 weeks of May. This money that we are going to receive is taxable. You will receive a 1099 at the end of the year(2011). The lawyers will not be doing any of the withholding. It's good to know, so you don't get surprised during tax season next year. As far as the compensatory damages, for those who sent in additional paperwork, there is no date nor amount scheduled as of this date. Have spoken with many of the women who did file this paperwork and there has been no contact from the attorneys at all. If anyone has heard anything different, please post it. Thanks and Good Luck to All.

Thanks for sharing. I just assumed that those that filled out the compensatory paperwork would get the payout at the same time, meaning all in 1 check. So, there goes assuming! Now, I'm really wondering how this will work.. I guess the check for back-pay goes out in May, and you wait to who knows when for the compensatory damages.

One would think that the lawyers would at least contact those that filled out the paperwork and let them know the status. That's the part that's surprising and concerning.

The lawyers have nothing to do with this anymore.
All the paperwork from the compensatory claims went to Rusk which is a clearing house of sorts in Minn. They have a team that will be making the decisions possibly with input from Sanford and even Novartis but not sure.
Those checks should be coming roughly around the same time as the other

I spoke with the firm last week and they said the judge is making the decision not novartis nor the attorneys. Rusk is an impartial group which distributes the checks. It is like a crap shoot at this point on the payout for sure. When you read the long settlement, the procedure for determining the payouts for comp and rider are very vague. Novartis gets to respond to the claim by providing specific details ( date of hire, ratings, discipline actions ect.). This company got off easy. I was terminated for a bogus reason after returning from pregnancy leave. I wish I had the money to fight and really wish I could have had a more active part in the lawsuit. At this point, my only hope is that I conveyed the information in a way which will compensate me.
