What's the real skinny on Zeus?

I will reference this thread for 12 months now and laugh at you. If were lucky, this will get our market share to 10%.

PEOPLE!!! WHAT IS WITH ALL THE UGLINESS AND NASTINESS ON THIS SITE? I thought this was a "family"-people who were supposed to care about each other. I am completely befuddled by the attitudes of people at this company. I am embarrassed of you that post these things.

I would rather read about sofa staining than to see this bashing. What in the world???

Maybe 12 months is a bit of a stretch. But I can certainly see ULTRA being the top 30 day lens by Sept 2015. Tough for those who worked on it, and certainly as tough for those who have to go out and convince the docs to fit it. It won't be easy.......not even close. That sales team doesn't have much credibility, so it will take some time.

Or maybe you all can read the press release and hand it to each eye doctor. Also make sure that they don't confuse B&L Ultra with Ultra Flex a Coopervision lens for store brands. Who thinks of these names, why did you not go with your first name ProComfort, Oh wait google that and see why...

How about interfacing with the research institutions to create a portfolio of information that proves this is a better lens....wait you laid off all of the scientists capable of doing this. Or if they are still there they lack the morale to promote this lens. Great market strategy. This lens will not be a market leader because of the lack of infrastructure. Valeant has gutted the company and cannot expect any market share.

Don't forget the Maxim Ultra Lens already on the market.

Clearly some slackers working in marketing, not worried about confusing customers. Need to see the man about that.

Ultra launched earlier this month to a select group of ~300 doctors in the US. North American Launch of Single Vision lenses will be in May. Expect to see targeted marketing (trade journals) soon, no public marketing until US/CAN launch in May. Launch capacity is set, capacity equivalent to PV/PV2 by the end of 2014, double PV/PV2 capacity in 2015, plans for further capacity if needed.
Ultra will launch outside of North America as the regional marketing teams request it. But during 2014 (while capacity will be limited) NA will be the primary target.
MF and Toric to follow in 2015.

The majority of the claims testing and clinical evaluation was complete before the takeover. All clinical evaluations show clear superiority over previous Bausch products and equivalence or superiority to the competitors (on all topics covered like dryness/vision/comfort/etc).
Imaging the comfort of Oasis, the wet-ability of Bifinity and the visual acuity of PV2. Of course internal testing and clinical information does not always guarantee marketing success, but if nothing else, Ultra will cannibalize PV/PV2 (at a better profit margin) and should take business away from the others.

Also, ProComfort was dropped due to regulatory issues, not because it would share branding with feminine hygiene products. (Marketing did test studies on names without the FDA signing off on the names first)

Ultra will be marketed, but not as heavily as Oasis (seriously, JnJ must be getting a huge bulk discount for their marketing campaigns).
 












Tried the ULTRA. It's ok. Not as impressive as I expected from all the hype. Kind of disappointed. I highly doubt this will help B+L bounce back. Too expensive for consumers and not that impressive. I kind of feel bad for the people who work in the surgical and vision care. Kinda obvious what Valeant will do...

It's obvious that ULTRA isn't all that. But what I don't understand is why B+L would want to put the biotrue solution into private label. I can't imagine B+L stooping so low. I seriously need to rethink my future now...

You exist for the greater good of the organization but your little world will not improve or develop into anything of pride or significance.

Agree with most of this, but not the sale of Vision Care. Valeant spends all of its time trying to buy sales, they're not going to sell off $1B+ in sales. Plus there are other financial implications that make it impractical. Name one significant asset that Valeant has sold.

I wish they would sell it. It could only get better under new ownership.
 








B+L is going down down down down. Putting all their products into private label w/ Walmart. This will only cannibalize the brand. Who knows, maybe Walmart will be the potential boss in the future...

Let's see what happens.

If Commercial cuts dollars off the proposed selling point to make volume we are back to the old downward spiral of higher cost and lower margin than our competitors. Then we will all be happy that Valeant have slashed operating costs.
