Welcome to the Medtronic board

Hi...I am very interested in an Associate Sales Rep position MSB in San Diego that was recently posted on indeed.com. In reading the basic qualifications (very limited and broad) it sounds like they maybe looking for a a recent college graduate. Can anyone please tell me if I am correct in this assumption? I have over 8 years of successful B2B sales experience outside the med field. However, I really want to work in this field and want to know if I am spinning my wheels. Any idea how many applicants they receive for this type of job posting? Or any other tips you can offer for purposing this position would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I can tell you this is the wrong place to look for serious answers. And if you do get an interview in medical device, don't mention you were ever on this site. It's not very well thought of.

Thats the best advice Ive ever seen on here. This site is not a good place to get reliable information. Talk to docs and reps in your area in person....this site is full of recruiters who are posing as reps, and they are far more disgruntled than the reps they are trying to recruit. This is a swamp.

STAY AWAY FROM THE NEURO/STIM DIVISION. I WORKED IN THAT DIVISION FOR MANY YEARS. IT USE TO BE A GREAT SALES ORGANIZATION BUT NOW THE MANAGEMENT SUCKS.
THEY ARE GETTING AND WILL CONTINUE TO GET THEIR ASSES KICKED BY THE COMPETITION ON THE STIM SIDE. THEY HAVE NOT HAD ANY COMPITITION FROM ANOTHER PROGRAMMABLE PUMP COMPANY UNTIL RECENTLY. WHEN THAT PUMP GETS FDA APPROVED, THEY WILL GET THIER ASSES KICKED AGAIN. THE REPS WILL BE LEAVING IN DROVES.
INSURANCE REIMBURSMENT IS BAD FOR THE PROGAMMABLE PUMPS BUT THEY ARE THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN AT THIS POINT.
BLEAK FUTURE IN STORE FOR THE NEURO/STIM REPS.

It's three years later and your post holds true. Leadership changes and decisions continue to make most wonder! VERY SAD!!

How long does it usually take to hear back from a recruiter? I am a recent colleges grad with a degree in molecular biology and worked my way through school as a nurses assistant and a monitor tech (I read EKG's for 12 hours at a time and yell if somebody goes into v-fib). Anyway, I'm not sure that Medtronic would even be interested in my experience considering the high number of applicants, but I applied for a few positions earlier this week that were recently posted and haven't heard anything yet. The job board still says that my resume has been received, but nothing since. If you can advise me on how long it usually takes to get a phone call I would appreciate it. I'm getting tired of staring at my phone hoping it will ring.

I am not sure about the average time it takes to hear back from a recruiter, but to finally get hired, specifically Diabetes, is 45-90 days!!!!! What a joke. Now try being an employee who was part of the lay-off, interviewed for a couple other jobs and not hearing back from either the hiring managers nor what is referred as the HR Department

Question on SQDM Sales Rep position within CRDM

Applying for SQDM sales rep position (description below). Does anyone have any feedback on the role, i.e.-- decent entry point to MDT?, growth potential with Reveal product line?, compensation range?

Position Description

Diagnostic & Monitoring is a division of Medtronic Cardiac Rhythm Disease Management (CRDM). The primary objective of this position is to grow Medtronic’s business within an assigned area by promoting, selling and servicing Medtronic’s Diagnostic & Monitoring/Reveal products.

Thank you

I am about to start CS training. Can anyone give me any insights as to how it is? Any help would be appreciated.

GOOD LUCK! If you work there long enough, work hard enough, get great annual evaluations and pay raises and rise to the top of the pay scale..........you'll end up getting canned so that the district can save a few dollars! It happened to me after nearly 13 years with the company. They will expect your loyalty but show none in return.

The information that I have discovered is anywhere from $40-60k salary, car allowance, laptop...the basics...and working from a home office for the most part with some of the companies (medtronic) having district offices that you can touch base with for doing things like faxing, making copies, etc.

WRONG. Medtronic closed all of their district offices in an effort to save a few bucks."Penny wise and pound foolish".
