Vertos Medical

So i guess everything is just peachy over there? This thread has been quiet for some time. Guess you're all happy with the lack of reimbursement?

Check with LinkedIn. Every other connection request on there is coming in from Vertos people. Talk about running for the door! Holy cow, they can't get out of there fast enough!!!! Got to go now, have to respond to this request to connect from the janitor at Vertos. Bye for now...

even if the appeal to cms overturns the initial decision, then what? the docs get reimbursed at minimum rates (for 2 hour OR time) as will the hospitals/ASC. The kit ASP will sink like bricks which means reps will have to create more volume by training 3rd tier docs that were picked over long ago b/c of risky OR skills. Then you have the mgmt. team at Vertos. The company could have been sold long ago but not in this economic climate. Nice product and concept,, terrific early veteran sales team, lousy mgmt. and timing. The real loser,, the patient.

Google CAG-00433n, effective 1/9/2014

"The CMS has determined that PILD for LSS is not reasonable and necessary under section 1862(a)(1)(A) of the Social Security Act.

B. The CMS has determined that PILD will be covered by Medicare when provided in a clinical study under section 1862(a)(1)(E) through CED for beneficiaries with LSS who are enrolled in an approved clinical study that meets the criteria below..."

This is effective immediately and supersedes all LCD decisions. It will take some time to get a study up and running and they want comparative arms and durability (length of time). Not completely dead but no way will Vertos keep us all on the sales team. Details of how CMS wants the study to be designed will make this almost an impossible task.. take a look at the CMS posting for the whole story.

But don't give up hope, James Hollander will save the day....

Now that I know James is in control I feel much better about things!
