Joe invested millions of his own money and lost it all. Horrible bet.

I interviewed with Gerard before launch for an rsm role. I asked him what the strategy was and market cap for the drug. He had virtually no strategy other than identifying that there was no fda approved indications for molluscum. He excitedly said market cap was 500M. I asked what that was based on and again, the only thing he could reference was that there were no other approved treatments and that there is a need for this in dermatology. I explained that dermatologist were widely known for using treatments off label, and that they have an approach to treat molluscum already. I explained that an fda approved therapy alone wasn’t a strategy and that there was no way this product had a 500M market cap… he seemed completely confused. To the point that it reminded me of the scene in Something About Mary. “No, not 6 minutes Abe’s, 7 minute… who breaks a sweat in 6 min “… dude was delusional… I bowed out after the interview and am so glad I did. Good luck y’all!

It became very clear after launch that Joe had absolutely no idea how to run a company or knew nothing about the market. His “we are the only approved product” message along with the “you’re breaking the law” gibberish has at least half of ped derms hating the product.
That is why they are shifting to pediatric physicians. These aren’t the last layoffs. Not many are left, but those that are don’t know anything either.

And now there's a whole new leadership team. CEO, CFO, and they added a COO role. Got a new head of commercial too. Many people left and are not being replaced. Probably more to come after the new year.

And we thought Joe and Gerard were idiots. The new guys in leadership have no clue how to sell to dermatologists or even sell a pharmaceutical product period! They think just suing compounding pharmacies will increase Ycanth adoption…really??!!
