They are the absolute worst. Making so much money and all they care about is Cha Ching, Cha Ching……

We are all expendable unfortunately. Lilly and every other publicly traded company does what's best for the stockholders even if it means cutting jobs. Never forget, no matter how "good" you are, we are all just employees with a Global ID number.

Speak for yourself. Salespeople that are good will always bring in the profit. Why do you think pharma reps are still around.

This is a very naive comment.

Yes salespeople that are good will bring in profit, but pharma works differently.

Any pharmaceutical company, including Lilly, will lay you off the first chance they get no matter how good you are. How many times do you speak to other reps in the field who were multiple time president's club winners and mvp's, but laid off? It happens all the time. Or how many times do you see some random and horrible new hire get the job over somebody who has years upon years of experience and comes highly recommended? Once again, it happens all the time. Just because you are "good" doesn't mean anything these days. Please don't think that just because you are "good" or crush your goals every quarter you'll be safe. You are setting yourself up to be blindsided so quickly. Every single one of us is on the chopping block. Take this time and put some feelers out there and prepare yourself for what's to come.

anyone have insight as to what's happening internally right now? Got work that changes are happening now and brand, ops etc and being told if there job is viable and then encouraged to apply for other positions...wish we knew what they were cutting internally bc usually indicative of who survives on the outside!!!

Read article on Lilly Now, “Taking Bold Steps…” then click on resource, FAQ page top right - that will tell you something.

First step to being a good pharma rep, is realizing you don't sell anything. You're a marketer a promoter, not a salesman.

A pharma rep who thinks they sell, is probably not a good rep.

So, if you research “How to become a great salesman”, you will find a variety of different articles, yet they all pretty much list the same qualities: Confidence, active listening, empathy, time management, strong communication skills, aptitude in building relationships/rapport building, ability to maintain focus, desire to learn, asking relevant questions & providing needs based solutions..These are all “skills” & “qualities” I use on a daily basis, and if you work in Pharma, and do not possess these skills, you won’t last very long. In other words, we are VERY MUCH sales professionals.

Do you really think you are someone special because you can build relationships, actively listen, and ask relevant questions? News flash buddy, you're not. If you go in to a job interview and say, "hey I'm special and you should hire me because I have an an aptitude for maintaining focus and can empathize with people." You'll be laughed right out of that interview because the 200 people before you said the exact same thing. The hard truth is that all of us are expendable at any time. None of have any specific skills. You want a guaranteed job where you actually are special? Go back to school and be an engineer, architect, pharmacist, or a lawyer. We all pick a career where a bum, who lives under the bridge, could be trained and do our job within a month.

HAHAHA!! Oh my god, every time I hear/read this all I can do it laugh my a$$ off because it’s so very obvious the person saying this is an uneducated troglodyte, or a bitter, glib d-bag, but just in case you truly a simpleton that does t know the difference, allow me to explain:

You see, junior, “Marketing” doesn’t require any interaction with the customer. TV/radio commercials, billboards, direct mailers, those annoying ads that interrupt your YouTube videos (God, I hate those), these are all examples of “Marketing”; whereas “salesman” requires interaction with a customer -whether face 2 face, virtual, or over the phone- and involves asking questions regarding a specific situation (or patient), how they address this situation (what product do they use), any shortcoming, or undesirable outcomes, then showing how my product may be a better solution by showing evidence (clinical trials) in addressing those specific shortcomings, and asking him/her to use my product on those specific patients. This is the definition of SELLING.
Now, run along, junior, and try not to be such a dumba$$ in the future.
