Thoughts on Justin Lampropoulos

In each franchise JL has single handedly made disastrous unilateral decisions. Every sales rep and manager disagreed behind his back. A weak leader surrounds himself with weakness so no one says a thing.

Each unilateral decision proved predictably wrong. $Ms in revenue lost as well as wasted critical market opportunities. All due to one person.

When a serious mistake happens in med device sales the responsible party must walk. At Merit it’s crickets. Then the scramble to blame someone or something and rearrange everything yet again so that no-one can track JL's failings.

"Justin Lampropoulos is an individual living in Salt Lake County, Utah. On information and belief, in February 2020 Justin Lampropoulos was a deputy constable working under the authority of an appointed constable in a county on the Wasatch front. Justin Lampropoulos is according to online records, also an executive vice-president of Merit Medical and earns $1.2 million per year."

interesting read but leaves me with more questions than answers. First, is being a deputy constable a part time hobby job? If not, how can a EVP of sales have two jobs at the same time? Is that a problem? Second, does a deputy constable have a boss? I wonder how the elected constable felt about his deputy’s official misconduct. I honestly can’t tell if it was a minor oversight or a huge abuse of power. In any event, it just doesn’t make sense. How can he have had two jobs unless one was just more of a hobby. It may be nothing but it is interesting.

Which job was the hobby? The one he was given with zero experience?

Summit County Attorney Margaret Olson argued there is no constable authorized to conduct foreclosure sales in Summit County and Lampropoulos misrepresented himself in order to conduct the sale.

“This constable was not authorized by the county legislative bodies, required by code,” Olson said. “He was a constable apparently appointed in Utah County in 2019. He came into this jurisdiction without notifying the sheriff, as required by law, without identifying himself properly, as required by law, holding a foreclosure sale which constables have no legal authority to do, issuing a real estate deed which constables have no legal authority to do, and calling himself a ‘Constable for the State of Utah,’ which there’s no such thing.”

This is clearly a breach of the law and yet Justin is still part of Merit...a company that prides itself on being ethical. In any other well run company, such an employee would have been terminated. In addition, a previous post was well within its rights to point out that numbers were made due to layoffs, but the most ironic part is that Justin still commands a salary of $1.2 million which would have the bottom line as well as save jobs and given to merit the optics of being at least an “ethical company”. Where are the board members who should doing their duty to the shareholders? How honest is such a company when it comes to making quality products and more importantly doing the right thing for patients and hospitals who use merit products?

Competitors should use these headlines to showcase the quality of merit employees.

When boys whose daddies are named Romney, Brockbank, and Lampropoulos illegally cut down a tree in the forest, does it make a sound?
