THE "ALL DAY LIE", BEGINNING A NEW TRADITION AT AZ!

45% access is optimistic at best. My son is in medical school and he tells me how they teach them NOT to trust or see pharma reps. He mentioned to me last week they stressed that drug samples actually raise the cost of medicines. Over time access will get worse and worse and the job of the pharma rep will go away. Companies will use other means to get their message to targets. This will be a gradual change so who can predict when this will happen. This is not a long term career. Sad to say but true.

Yup, and hence the "all day lie".

I recently read a statistic that access in physician offices is around 45%, which means the majority of your targets are inaccessible. It’s only going to get worse so the real question is what are companies going to do to address it. Hiring cheap inexperienced reps isn’t gonna cut it!

You don't have to have a degree anymore to do this job. Actually it's almost an insult if you have a degree and are doing this job in 2019. How much did you pay for your degree just to sling coffee and do a few lunches a week and not see anyone the rest of the time? The companies can easily hire a responsible CNA's/MA's or Associate Degress pay 50% Less and it would be a decent job for someone. Better yet Just make it a part time job where you only work 2-3 days a week do a couple lunches and call on 20-25 see able offices w/ 50% of the current pay. 50% car allowance and very limited benefits. Part Time job is all this is anymore.

AZ is already doing this! Its called CSO employees. They make up about 90% of our new hires and make about half what we make when all the bean counting is done...They are the future of AZ and for the most part this entire industry. Now go make that 9th call on a Friday afternoon and don't forget to send your manager all of your key accomplishments for the week with nothing but your high decile writers that you saw.

Love it! Sarcasm too! The best! And, the ALL DAY LIE CONTINUES>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

As I see it, we have zero worries about layoffs at AZ for the time being. Frenchie the Fool is still delusional about $45 billion in sales by 2023, so he will need to add MORE reps in the future, if you can believe that! I have perfected my day to a level that even I didn't think was possible, in terms of lying and deceiving. My sales are reasonably good too!

Today, will be a first for me. I call it the All Day Lie! No sampling all day, with 100% fake calls. I will only do it every now and then to not raise suspicion. Join me my friends and make this a tradition across all of AZ!!!! Relax and enjoy the All Day Lie!!

Let's share best practices on how our All Day Lie went!

“All day lie”

My parents raised a hard worker, obvious your parents didn’t. Can’t wait for you to share with your kids how dad was a lazy ass and cheated the system.

AZ rep here. If you think a high call average means anything you are delusional. It’s about sales, not call averages. You probably wave at a doc and say you made a call.....dipshit.

LOL!! 20 year rep says he/she sees 4 docs a week. That's about 200 calls a YEAR. How many of these calls are waves at docs, dipshit? Half at least. You think you earn your 100 dollar plus salary and benefits? Hardly! I don't know how long it will last but it's coming to an end. You know it and I know it. If you're not prepared for the future you will find yourself in a world of shit. Yeah I work for AZ I know the game and I play it well. It's just a pay check for me. I'm out there everyday never leave late or go home early. I have a side business in my territory that brings in significant dollars. When the shit hits the fan which it will someday I'm ready. For now I cash my paycheck, play the stupid metrics game, give my idiot DM what they want to hear and the most important thing..don't take this seriously and enjoy life.

Lots of truth in the above post. That many calls per year doesn't pay your salary, benefits etc etc. The job is going away slowly. Perhaps gone all together or to contract reps at less than half pay. I do think in the future a college degree won't even be required. It's a shame but it's been a fun ride. I agree with the above have another gig ready for the day you get the phone call. Unfortunately if you have five or more years in this business and/or over 40 getting another job will be very difficult. Plan now for this and you will do fine.

Most stay in pharma because of the paycheck and they know they can't replicate their salary somewhere else. The vast majority of employers looking for salespeople know phama isn't sales anymore and anyone in this business five years is probably lazy or thinks selling is having a lunch and spending thirty seconds with a doctor. I don't all day lie because I would feel guilty. So I go through the motions and pretend day after day. The job is mindless the management is awful and the culture is toxic. But the paycheck and benefits are damn good.

Everything you say is true. It's funny watching newbie reps new to the industry. For the first couple of months they are so gung ho and think they will conquer the world of pharma sales. They soon realize how mindless the job is and their attitude change is noticeable. I love the newbies who think they are a respected member of the health care team. LOL. I'm hoping I can make it another five years until retirement. I'm doubtful and I admit I'm scared as hell. I can't see myself working for a contract company doing this for half the pay but I won't have another choice.

congratulations on your superior work ethic. The question still arises: is torturing doctors with your mindless, repetitive, no value detailing helping anyone? Maybe you feel good that you work all day every day, but are you helping anyone? Is a patients life improved? Are you making the providers life easier so they can focus on patient care? Or, are you wasting a lot of peoples time, burning fuel, spending money, raising healthcare cost for all of us, just so you can feel good about being a hard worker. Not so easy our world, but calling someone else lazy may not be taking the big picture into account. Maybe the people you call lazy are more efficient, matter more to the providers because they create value and/or don’t waste their time.

Dad didn't create the Lazy day, the Industry did and the Industry continues to endorse the position.Don't fool yourself HR or DM, There is nothing to do, Every company knows this but yet they keep putting Reps in the field. So Dad just does what he can to keep the pay checks coming which is little to nothing.

I retired after 30+ years. 90% of the time I was home by 2. I went to COE numerous times. I have the old Stuart Pharmaceutical pension. It was the easiest 30+ years you can imagine. I was lucky. Very, very few of you with AZ or any other pharmaceutical company will do what I did.

We don’t make patient lives better by calling on docs. We bring NO VALUE whatsoever. That’s gone. Just collect your check, fly under the radar, and save plenty of time for your family.

All true, people are only seeing, for 30 seconds or less with the exception of a cattle call lunch 30-40% of their target. In most cases 20-25 See-able Mds per territory. The Pharma Rep is a dying position. Back in the 70-90 Consumer Reps were all the rage. They called on Independent Pharmacies, KMarts and newer chains at the time like Walmart and Rite Aid. They also called on the Grocery Store Head Quarters and moved significant product. They have all but disappeared in the 90's w/ the launch of the big Block Buster drugs in the mid 90's. Now in 2019-and beyond there just isn't the products or the need w/ Offices not letting Reps in to have meaningful conversations anymore. How long can it continue when the average conversation is less than 30 Second sound bite and numbers are not even accurate for 2 months?

Amen to that. That dude is probably the same asshole who has no self awareness and doesn’t know when to Leave the office.......thinking he’s soMehow bringing value or affecting business by hanging out at the nurses station like flies hang out on shit. It’s morons like this that cause offices to close their doors to reps because some just don’t know when to quit. Seen it a million times.....all the “Debbie do-good-ers.” Just go in, do your damn job and get out. If you work smart this is the best part time job you’ll ever have.
