Tebow

Put the best of the best.....Joe Montana, John Elway, Joe Namath, Bart Starr, etc.... in a team with a shitty OL that can't passblock worth a crap or with a set of receivers who drop the ball when it hits them in the hands..... and all of them would fall flat on their faces. Tebow is no different. When he has time to throw and receivers who actually catch the ball - he's one of the very best. One of the best 2nd year QB's - as far as potential goes - that I've seen in a long, long time. He runs like a halfback and throws the ball like a rocket. The NY Jets should pick him up. He'd kick ass and take names as a Jets QB. But the Christian haters will find any old reason to attack him ...... regardless of what he does. Most of them probably prefer to worship at Mosques.

He shines when the rest of his team shines. At this point, he is inconsistent. That can be fixed and he has the work ethic and drive to do it.
Im not sure about that since hard work hasnt fixed that terrible throwing motion, or the ability to locate the 2nd and 3rd receivers? He not inconsistant jf anything he's been consistently bad even in bis best game he threw for less than 50% He has never been a good passer and like it or not the NFL is a passing league. I'm not saying he is done but he is years away from developing into a competant passing threat. If any of you guys golf this analogy will make sense. Tebow has the equivalent of a bad swing. The best way to fix a bad swing is not to just 'tweak' it you need to destroy it and rebuild a new swing. Tebow has been told this and he either mentally or physically can't do it. Until he rebuilds his "swing" he will never be a 'good' NFL passer which you have to be to succeed in the NFL.

Clearly you know 0 about football. All those QB's were huge passing threats thus you could not load the box with 8-9 defended because they would torch you. Tebow is not a passing threat thus you can load the box and he can't pick up the hot/quick read, has a slow so wind up and can't get rid of the ball fast, not to mention most of his throws wabled badly when release with no zip on it. Obviously your a born again who is mixin the good man that Tebow is with the horrible QB he is.

To be a great passing QB you need time to throw the ball and receivers who can catch it. Pretty fundamental. You've never played the game like I have, have you? You sure talk tough from your armchair position tho. Say hi to your mullah for me.

Played at Penn State in the earlt 90's. So f off. Tebow had Timer he can't get rid of the ball or see the field. He is garbage. Hell Vimve Young had a similar QB rating in his second year and people were calling for his head. Why does Tebow get a pass?

Let’s be real here. If Tebow were a black guy all tatted up with dreds and some priors for hitting his baby’s momma there is no way in hell any of you Tebowners would be supporting him like this, even if everything else on the field in HS and college and in the NFL were identical!!! You people like the idea of Tebow and are making excuses for his below mediocre play based on the idea of Tim Tebow.

Jamarcus Russell had a better passer rating, more yards passing, and better completion % than Tebow in his second year. Why is the reaction so different? Umm I wonder? Oh because Jamarcus was lazy…and we don’t like lazy but on the field, lazy or not he had a better year than Tebow. Results are what matters so why is Tebow’s mediocre results met with such praise from his supporters? Because you like the idea of Tebow…plain and simple.

I would support your fictious black Tebow because he would still be a Gator.

Do I like the idea of Tebow? Yes. Is he going to be great? I don't know. Will be get better? I'm pretty sure of that.

I just like the guy and I'm not a thumper.

Jamarcus Russell liked the "Purple Drank!" He had everything and threw it away.

The one reason the Bronco's brought Tebow on board and why people like him is that he is reliable. A Head Coach knows that Tebow is going to give 150% and be a good representative for their team.

Yes he is not Brady or Manning. I do agree that a lot of people like the "idea" of Tebow. We would rather see professional athletes who are good role models and not living a "thuggish" lifestyle. A "good guy," does not always equate to results though.

I hope Tebow will be better next season but if the NFL does not work out for him he has a very bright future. I think Tebow would make a great QB Coach for an SEC team. Maybe one day Offensive Coordinator and eventually Head Coach for The Gators. He is an awesome motivator and would be embraced professionally at the college level. College is where Tebow's heart is and where I think he can make the most positive impact.

Coaching? Are you nuts? Tebow is a young guy with a very promising QB career in the NFL ahead of him. If you track the history of the great NFL QB's none of them were fantastic in their first 2 years. All of them got progressively better, as will Tebow. After 10-15 years in the NFL I don't think Tebow will go back to coaching college ball. He'll probably buy a chain of restaurants or car dealerships to keep himself busy. You will be watching him on many Sunday afternoons in the future.

Matthew Stafford was pretty fucking awesome in his first full season.

So did Andy Dalton and Cam Newton..oh right they are rookies!

The problem with Tebow isn’t that he needs time to evolve into the position. Tebow has never been a passer, his mechanics are awful an even though he has been told this since college he has done nothing to change it. Why do you think now he is going to get it right? I know he is a hard worker but throwing mechanics, unfortunately, are natural and if they are good they can be tweaked, but if poor, like Tebow’s, that road is going to be more than one offseason. The problem with your ‘great QB’s who started slow” argument is that the great ones all had great mechanics, grew up in passing offense in college, had great field vision, and the ability to read complex defenses and coverage – and it still took them a few years to get the hang of it! They were doing that since HS and college. Tebow is four to six years behind the curve as he has never been a pass first passer, who could read coverage and exploit it.

Look at Tebow’s mechanics and then go look back at any of the greats in their early years that I assume you are referencing like, Montana, Marino, Young, Elway, Mannings, Brady’s, and see the difference. Tebow is not close to them at that point in their careers and now he not only has to get his mechanics right he has to learn how to read the pass coverage that all the greats were learning since freshman year of college, or earlier in some cases. If there is one thing we can also say is that college success does not equate to pro success especially at the QB position.

The NFL is at a different level and the best quote I’ve heard about the transition from college to the NFL is this, “in college when the receiver is open he is open, and when he is covered he is covered, in the NFL when a receiver is covered he is covered and when he’s open, he’s covered.”

Lastly save the “Tebow’s a winner” BS!!! Most if not all players in the NFL are winners!!! Look at the bios of almost any starter, most were All-Everything in HS and College, in multiple sports, many played or had offers to play other sports in college and pro’s. Every guy in the league is basically the best of the best. Sure Tebow may have more college awards with the Nat’l Championships and the Heisman but that doesn’t make anyone else in the league less of a winner.

^^^^I think Tebow does some things pretty well. Rolling out and throwing on the run...he's not bad at all.

Reading defenses comes with time on the job. Look up HOFer Steve Young....his first 2 years....worse than Ryan Leaf and Akili Smith rolled into one.

Also...I have found over the years that some teams just don't get it offensively...they just don't. Denver is one of those teams.

No quarterback will excel in the NFL if they are not allowed to play action on first down. Brees would suck....so would the Mannings, Brady and Rogers...all would blow rump...if they were never permitted to play action on first down.

And.....the schematics of pass plays. drawing safeties to one side in order to open up the deep play is an art...the Browns have no clue either.

Sorry, you're full of shit. For some unknown reason you've got a hard-on for Tebow. I suspect that you are the proud owner of more than a few head dresses. He'll prove you wrong across the board. You might as well just accept the fact that you'll be watching him for many Sundays and Monday nights to come. I know that's really hard for you to accept. Tough. Deal with it.

Talk about having a HARD ON for Tebow…sounds like you would blow him and swallow…

Play action only works when you have a competent passer…that’s why the Bronco never run play action. The D is unconcerned about biting on the fake as they are willing to take the odds that the QB will not be able to make the throw if in fact it is not a run after all. And if it is a run the D sold out and should stop the run play cold. Seriously guys this is football 101…

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Tim Tebow needs more R&R than anyone thought.

The Broncos quarterback played through rib, lung and chest injuries he sustained in Denver's 45-10 loss at New England in the AFC divisional playoffs last weekend.

He won't need surgery, is expected to make a full recovery with some down time and his offseason training program shouldn't be affected in any way.

ESPN first reported Wednesday that Tebow got hurt on a third-quarter tackle, then had trouble sleeping because of the pain and underwent an MRI on his chest Monday.

Team spokesman Patrick Smyth said that while he couldn't confirm the exact extent or nature of the injuries due to team policy, he acknowledged that Tebow finished the game in considerable pain.

Backup Brady Quinn quickly got ready to go into the game after Tebow was hit by Vince Wilfork and Rob Ninkovich, but Tebow stayed in and finished up.

"It's just the physicality of playing football. Sometimes you get hit and it can hurt a little bit. But, I wanted to play a lot of the game," Tebow said after the game.

The outcome had long been decided by the time Tebow got hurt.

"I just wanted to show character. You just continue to fight and it doesn't change who you are, how you play, how you go out there, you should be the same at all times," Tebow said. "That's what I wanted to show, it didn't matter if it was the first play or the last play or you were down by 42. I was going to be the same player and I was still going to give everything I have. Because that's all I have to give."

Tebow, who had an ice pack on his non-throwing shoulder after the game, wasn't in the locker room during a one-hour media window on Sunday, emerging with a smile from the trainer's room as reporters were filing out as the players streamed to their end-of-season meeting with coach John Fox.

Recovery from such injuries can take several weeks, and it's highly unlikely Tebow would be able to play in the Pro Bowl on Jan. 29 if he's selected as a second alternate.

On Monday, Broncos boss John Elway declared Tebow the incumbent starting QB entering training camp next summer and reiterated his plan to work with him during the offseason to help polish his passing game.

Tebow went 8-5 as the Broncos starter after supplanting Kyle Orton following a 1-4 start. He engineered a six-game winning streak that included four straight fourth-quarter comebacks that sent Tebowmania into full pitch.

He faded at the end, losing his last three starts, including one to the Kansas City Chiefs and Orton, but the Broncos backed into the playoffs nevertheless at 8-8 as champions of the middling AFC West.

Tebow had the best game of his pro career in the wild card round, when he averaged 31.6 yards per completion, the best in the NFL in 40 years, and threw an 80-yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas on the first play of overtime for a 29-23 win over heavily favored Pittsburgh and the league's No. 1 defense.

That was Denver's first playoff game in six seasons.

While the Broncos brass was delighted at returning to the postseason party a year after a franchise-worst 4-12 season, they said the 35-point loss to the Patriots showed just how far they need to go to return to the AFC's upper echelon.

Tebow, who didn't get the first-team snaps during training camp or for the first month of the season, realizes he has a long way to go himself.

"Just work and improve, fundamentals, understanding defenses, footwork, everything," he said.

Tebow might also have to get accustomed to a new offensive coordinator in 2012. Mike McCoy has interviewed for head coaching vacancies in Miami and Oakland.

McCoy is a hot commodity after retooling Denver's offense midstream to capitalize on Tebow's unique skill set. He implemented the read-option that turned the NFL on its ear at midseason and resulted in the Broncos soaring to the top of the league in rushing.

Tebow ran for 660 yards, most by a quarterback in team history, in the regular season and another 63 in the playoffs, leading to concerns among some that he was exposing himself to injury. But Tebow noted that he actually takes glancing blows, if any, from smaller defenders while on the run, making him less vulnerable than when he stays in the pocket and might get sandwiched by 300-pound linemen.

He took every snap for Denver after replacing Orton at halftime Oct. 9 against San Diego.

Tebow ran for six TDs in the regular season and one in the playoffs while averaging 5.3 yards a carry. But he completed just 46.5 percent of his passes last season and just 40.4 percent in the playoffs.

"We're always looking for balance," Elway said. "Balance is what we won Super Bowls with."

Elway and Tebow are eager to see what a difference an offseason can make — they didn't have that luxury last year during the NFL lockout.

"I feel like I've improved a lot in a lot of different forms of my game," Tebow said. "And I continue to improve and continue to get a lot better, and I believe I can, and I'm looking forward to putting in work."

Tell Mike Tomlin all about it there Cletus. You must be the idiot who played for Joe Pa.....and his candy assed schedule.
