Stryker

I love this poor guy who is desperate for Medtronic to be brought into the conversation. You must know your job is gone in a Stryker takeover, we get it.
You must be a Wound Care guy desperate that it be Stryker, I'm neither, I'm not working for for SNN, SYK, or MDT. But I do know the facts, SYK is a small fry in comparison to MDT. If MDT wants SNN (which I'm not sure if they do, just reading the same public info as you that reports rumors that they might be), then SNN can't compete financially with MDT.

MDT wanted SNN before they bought Covidien for the tax reasons; if MDT wants in the joint game they're not going to waste their money on the #4 market share niche player in the space.

It's amazing to think that a guy on the Stryker board is on the inside enough to actually know details of this takeover. If someone keeps saying Smith & Nephew will be bought year after year they will probably be right eventually.

When Zimmer bought Biomet I remember all of the chatter on cafepharma...NOT! When Depuy bought Synthes all of the chat boards were buzzing...NOT! If a buyout were coming nobody would have a clue except the case coverage rep on the Stryker board that is positive it's going down.

True. But the law in Great Britain requires a companies to disclose merger and acquisition activity when speculation based on rumors reaches the stock market. That's why Stryker had to shit or get off the pot last year. Pricing for acquisition is built into the stock price now; without speculation on the company selling out, the value of a share in London would fall below 1000p, imho.

The reason there is so much discussion going on is not because of a rep talking about it on the Stryker board. It's because of the number of articles that have been written over the last couple of weeks in financial publications about the possibility of a pending deal coming early in 2016. Some of the articles are listed earlier in this thread.

With these mergers and acquisitions there seems to be a duty of complete secrecy and if anything is written or talked about it would be complete speculation. I read a few of the articles and found that it was the exact same thing a year ago also.

Is a merger possible between the two companies creating an Ortho powerhouse that would benefit both company shareholders by reducing total expenses and generate far more profit of the combined entity?
Reps would be safe, but how about all those folks in the cubicles? I never wish that on those hard working folks.

What makes you think reps. would be safe?

SN Endo here, got laid off today after my best year ever. Over quota, huge growth, manager told me the whole sales force is downsizing, good luck to those who end up working for whoever buys SN.

Don't think your manager is being totally honest with you. Then again, what would you expect from the dishonest, corrupt and incompetent management team in Endo! Be glad they let you go. This train is headed nowhere

I've heard they've made cuts in some regions but nothing around here (NW). There is something horribly wrong at S&N when Endo's biggest release in years is the Lens camera made for the Chinese market. We still have a few accounts that haven't completely switched to Arthrex. Wish us luck keeping those accounts in 2016!

Working as a Rep with a comp plan at Endo can be challenging. Relax, the whole
industry is changing. IMHO. It's all about controlling their costs and maximizing profits so the analysts are impressed with their earnings. It's not personal.

That is why the potential merger is all about reducing costs. Close two buildings or corporate headquarters and they are rock stars to wall street. Wake up, your not that important in the big picture.
