Should Joe Paterno go to jail?

We need Matt Taibbi from Rolling Stone Magazine on the story to get the truth.

Get out your pen and paper and go to work, Matt.

I don't trust any other investigative journalist in America. I'm not even sure we have any investigative reporters left in America, other than Matt.

Am I the only one that finds it funny about the new head coach's last name there at Ped St.?

You mean the new 'head' coach Bradley or assistant coach McQueery?

Wasn't it McQueery who outted Sandusky?

I wonder whether Sandusky's resignation resulted in a elevated coaching position for McQueery?

Remember that old board game called "Clue"? You know, Colonel Mustard did it in the Ball Room with a lead pipe?

This scandal brings back old memories of that game.

Those were the good old days. Oh how I miss them! :D

Heh. Looks like McQueery may be gone AND be prosecuted. This is like a major internet kiddie porn bust at this point. Recruits are jumping ship too. Maybe Ped St.'s accreditation should be pulled.

McQueery is up shit creek. He's got two groups of people after him. The Joe-Pa worshipers after McQueery snitched him off - and the child advocate crowd who hate him for not confronting Sandusky in the shower stall when he was having his way and for not reporting it to the cops ASAP.

I don't think he's in protective custody pending future prosecution. I think he's in protective custody to save his ass from roving mobs of vigilantes. If I were him I would opt for solitary confinement in a maximum security jail. But that's just me. I heard on ESPN tonight that somebody threw cinderblock rock through the windows at his home. I hope he has the smarts to move his family out of there forthwith.

Joe-Pa is so friggin' old I don't think any of this really fazes him. When you get up in his age bracket a successful day is taking a clean dump and making it though the night without peeing the bed and waking up. The Penn State career is behind him now and the pension checks will start rolling in. It's all good. ;)

Personally, I think he should have retired years ago....ego.

I thought you defended him earlier in this thread and said:

"Joe Paterno followed the protocol. It was the responsibility of the Athletic Director -- and he is the one who should go to jail"

Make your mind up.

Pick a side and stick with it.

What the hell is your problem? I don't have to pick anything. I simply stated what I think. I don't think he should go to jail. That is not defending him for not saying anything. I thought he should have retired years ago, and if you go back far enough in the archives, you'll find a quote to that fact, although it may be as an anonymous post -- go ahead, spend your evening researching Cafepharma.

One thing is unmistakeable here, my good friends.

This is not just about Penn State.

This is about AMERICA and the continuing decline of an empire.

Hundreds if not thousands of Penn State students were protesting Paterno's firing.

Most, if not all, of those students were raised in AMERICAN households.

And you can't blame it on 'stupidity'. You don't get a seat in a Penn State classroom if you are 'stupid'.

It's morals, people. It's ethics. It's knowing the difference between right and wrong. At a certain point the distinction can't be taught. And by the time you reach college age it is already ingrained.

God help America.

Oh really? So everyone at Penn State is a rocket scientist huh? All the alumni kids and relatives that got in because of donations and grants. Many of these kids are there to extend their high school careers. Many of the jocks get free passes and basket weaving classes. The culture within the athletic department at PSU has been rotting like a fish(from the head down) for some time. Joe Pa"s record is blemished beyond repair...he has been nothing but a figurehead for 5 years. His win"s for the last 5 years should be delegated to his assistants....they have done all the work. When this is all said and done it is going to be very, very ugly.

Yes, it IS about Penn State and their ammoral leadership. Humankind has lived in a pit of depravity since the beginning of time. When people choose to accept their condition and fall on their knees and ask Jesus into their heart for forgiveness and redemption, only then will these types of atrocities cease. However, we all have free will and the ability to choose our path. Everyday is a work in progress. Let's pray that some good will come out of this.

There are rumors floating around that Jerry Sandusky's 8 victims were all poor black male children from disadvantaged households.

If that rumor is transformed from rumor to fact - this scandal could get pretty heated in a short span of time.

Ped State had better hire the world's greatest PR firm. One that can pull rabbits from hats or turn water into wine.

Stock up on the popcorn. If you thought the Occupy movement was news......stay tuned. ;)

Coach Bobby Bowden has been very critical of Joe Pa, it's good to see him break the "code" that fellow coaches have for each other. Here are a few comments:

Coach Bowden: "The worst thing is what the guy (Sandusky) did to those boys," Bowden said. "Then the second thing is the fact that Penn State kept it quiet. They could have stopped it, about eight years of it, or nine years of it. Now you had eight, nine years. There's no telling how many kids were affected after that."

Bowden said he wasn't upset that Penn State fired Paterno.

"I know this," Bowden said. "There's no nice way to dismiss somebody. That's not what upsets me. What happened to those young boys is what upsets me. It shouldn't have happened because somebody didn't report it. They could have cut it out eight or nine years ago."

I am sure Coach Bowden said "Dad Gum," a few times! You Go Coach!

I see that Bob Costas interviewed the scum sucking bottom feeder along with his attorney. Naturally, he claimed that he's no pedophile and was simply involved in innocent horseplay after workouts with the 10 year old in the shower. Leg touching and so forth. Strange. I played sports my entire life. I can't recall showering with a coach even once let alone have one engage in horseplay with me in the shower room. There are 40 counts against this bastard involving 8 boys. I heard some of counts include oral copulation and rape. I wonder if the jurors will decide that scum bucket is not a pedophile once they parade the boys up on the stand and they tell their stories? Quite a ploy to try and get out in front of this with a Costas interview. I guess he figures what's he got to lose by going on the offense? I wonder if he got paid for the interview and how much? If he is convicted of pedophilia I hope the judge tacks on a few more years after watching the interview.

Article makes it look like old Joe was a lot sleazier and conniving than we thought. Time for Ped State to get a football program death penalty.

You can't really blame the old man for trying to protect his money.

Lawyers protect lawyers, priests protect priests, doctor protect doctors, cops protect cops and coaches protect coaches.

We live in a clanish and immoral society.

Savages have been known to have a higher degree of ethical fortitude than these educated skallywags.
