RS Medical

Wow! Very insightful commentary. This is making me rethink a phone interview I have coming up for a Patient Care Specialist position. Any advice or further insight into what this Patient Care Specialist position encompasses?

Re: RS Medical responder

I was an RSM employee for more than 10 years. I was fortunate to hold several positions within the company. My capacities allowed me to view the structure from may perspectives and I was impressed at times and occasionally dissapointed. However I will say that any company that is worth it's salt will be required to grow and shrink according to the market demands. Does the bulk of GE's revenue come from applicances any longer, no it doesn't. Not since Jefferey Immelt took over and converted the company to a finance giant. There are many great reads out there that address what the comapny is going through. Perhaps we should all read some more of those.

Are you suggesting that rs medical is like GE in any way? Are you joking? Reading how other companies have successfully transitioned from one business to another doesnt change anything. this company is destined to fail and they will forever be seen as a top heavy organization of assholes.

Oh, why are you gone if this is how you feel?

It was unfortunate that you were one of the many reps outsourced. I hope that you find the perfect company that will value whatever skill set you have to offer. Perhaps a foul language resource publisher:)

One would think this company would at least try and treat people who are leaving with a little respect and dignity, but no, they must make sure those who are leaving know they are nothing.....

I posted a previous message regarding how RSM took advantage of price distortions in the medical marketplace, and how those distortions are changing. However I see that a great many people are very bitter about the decline (and possible end) of RSM. I was never embittered by being laid off after having worked in sales for 16 years for RSM. It was the most important job I ever had in that it taught me how to run my territory like my own business, and I had great satisfaction in my modicum of success. People need to realize that businesses live and die. Of the original 500 companies in the S&P 500 (that was formulated in 1957) there are less than 75 of those companies remaining today. This is just the nature (and creative destruction) of capitalism. Capitalism is self correcting in that inefficient or poorly run companies will die, and rightfully so. Newer, more innovative companies will replace them that will satisfy their customers. This is why government should not run companies; they can operate at a loss indefinitely and just make up the difference by either printing more money or sticking it to the taxpayer by raising taxes. This is why socialism (the government ownership of businesses) does not work.

Please realize that I know the pain of being laid off. It happened to me in 1994 before I was lucky enough to find employment with RSM in May 1995. I was not bitter when laid off in 1994 nor was I bitter for being laid off by RSM. Nobody owes us a living and Rick Terrel gave me a chance with a new job and a means to make a living for 16 years (in which I only took 1 week of vacation!). Being in sales taught me to have a positive outlook. Commission sales even made me a better person in that I (to satisfy my customers and retain my business) had to treat rude or mean people with courtesy and professionalism. If you behave this way everyday it becomes a habit and spills over into your personal life.

So to those who feel betrayed or are bitter about RSM I think that this is wasted (and destructive) effort. It is destructive to one's psyche and outlook on life to feel hatred that goes unresolved or smolders indefinitely. The best way to approach these things is to take what positives you can from your RSM experience and move on.

You don't know what you are talking about, the company you worked for is no longer, the company they exists is cruel and destructive to those of us left. Don't you have better things to do with your amazing and positive attitude? What are you doing on this site?

Ps- read up on the definitions of socialism, you are out of your depth here dummy.
