Royal Canin Questions

Who did RC hire for the Lousiana terr?

Don't know. But if you want a West Coast position contact Kathy Joyce ( DM West Coast) who is an insecure non-practicing vet turned salesperson. You should also know that RC has this wild idea about their Rx and regular feeds being superior to the products of other pet food manufacturers whose foods are just as good if not better than RC's. And RC is nervous about it and the increasing strength of the competition among vets who don't buy into RC's "superiority" complex.

Re: "Branded" car

I saw a message that stated that RC has a "branded" car........what does that mean?
Also, I heard salaries were going up in January across the board........is that true? The base salary is low even by animal health standards.

BS. The job is meant for commoners. I hate this f'in job and can't wait to get out. Hey pharma, let me know when I can jump back into the ring with professionals and get a better paycheck again.

I agree! The idiot that posted the rah rah rah comment is obviously one of those incompetents that got promoted. How about the manager that got fired from MWI and then this company not only hires him but promotes him. I am not in his region so have no idea how he manages but I can say he was not qualified. Some of the other managers are veterinarians who couldn't sell their way out of a box. If you came from pharma, like I did, we saw true professionalism. This company is made up of a bunch of clowns, from the top down. Right now they are hiring the type of people that know nothing about the industry so they can turn them into robots. If you want to work that way and make no money, by all means apply and maybe, if you are chosen, you can be trained to be wound up every morning and spit out the same sales pitch every where you go. By the way, no matter what you do, it is never good enough.

You have got to be crazy to say this. Admit it, you are in management.

Base is rather low so you will have to decide what you are looking for. Yearly increases are low like every other company in this economy. The job is probably more stable than most. Most reps really like their job and the clients that they call on. If QOL is what you are looking for, this is the place to be. If you want $$$$$, this is not the place. Hope that helps.

I heard the reps did like their jobs in 2009. The good managers from back then moved on.

Who told you that? Are you proud to admit who you work for and what you do for a living at a cocktail party? I'm mortified.

Wow, mortified ? Why not go somewhere else? Wait, I know why, you are one those that thinks they are to good for this job yet couldn't sell wine to wino. When you interviewed for this job , was the type of product kept a secret? Do us in the company that like our job a favor, shut your pie hole. Have fun at your cocktail parties loser.

Why would you be mortified? i don't like the direction of the company right now but I am not mortified in any social situation. What seems to be the problem? I have not heard this from any RC rep. There are a lot of us that are not 100% happy with the company and the job but the job is nothing to be ashamed of.

Let's get real. I took this job as a stop-gap and not as a career. True my husband pulls down the bucks but I am truly embarrassed every time I go to a company meeting. I'm OK when I'm by myself. My manager is useless. Most of our managers are. I came from a bigger co., better culture and definitely more $$. This co. Is so wimpy. My mgr treats me like a suspect even though my #s good. I have third interview to get out of this rat trap. Wish me luck!

You are where you belong, apparently.

I was fairly enthusiastic when I started at RC, but must admit, the sales division is run by greasy idiots. I haven't learned a thing from my manager that I didn't already know before, and WK is about as useless as they come.
It's absolutely still an "Ol Boys Club", but with funding from Mars.
Kind of like when hicks win the lottery...
Who knows what the future holds. The products are good. I love most of the clients. The pay is too low (which they already know)- some good people that work here. A lot of butt smoochers and desperate people too though....
I'm just coasting until my next job. Everyone seems to say that their managers are always accusing them of not doing what their told, micromanaging, and nothing is ever good enough, which I've experienced too.
*Shrug*. It's a paycheck. Many of the DM's I speak to feel the same way, and the only people to blame for that are WK and a majority of the douchebag managers.
