Rheumatology Specialty Positions (New)

That is exactly what our big gripe is with Publicis!! We are all big boys and girls, we will all live another day if we lost out to someone else. You dont even have to call us, send us a form letter rejection! Just frikkin tell us!

I think they have given out the offers but are waiting to tell those of us who were 2nd choice out of two until the first choice has accepted and signed their offer sheet. It stinks, but that is the only reasonable explanation.

Just out of curiosity, those of you who were hired. what age demographic do you fall into?
I am from an older demographic (over 45) and seem to get passed over repeatedly. I am a multiple award winner winner with years of successes, but cant seem to get anything since I was downsized from my long time former employer.
Are there others out there who fit this same profile? What do we do? I am way to young to retire but seem to be "too old" to get hired.

I'm over 55 and just received an offer, but it took me a year and a half to get it. This was my first interview since December. I actually had an employer say to me on the phone " I've gone over and over in my head your just too old. I can't have an old guy walking in an office with this equipment" unfortunately I didn't tape this call. Oh and by the way, this bone head has already gone thru 2 people. So much for being too old.
You definitely find out who your friends are though, people talk about networking not one person would help me. Why? Because they knew they're be next and wanted to leave their options open.
Rutgers/Boston College did a study of of people over 50 that lose their jobs 76% never find another job, people over 40, 50% never find another position.
But we're better off now than we were 4 years ago.

well, by the time you are 40, and especially 50, you should have developed a strong enough network and resume to not even have to "cold" interview.

good luck with your new job.

Dream on young one. By the time you are 40 or 50 it's dog eat dog in the professional world. No one wants to help you because you may take their job. And as for having a strong resume, you just keep being told "you are overqualified for this position" Which means they don't want to pay you what you were making. What they do not realize that going from six figures to $50,000.00 is bad but it's still better than unemployment and we (us old codgers) would just love to be given the opportunity.

Congratulations!!!I have been in and out of low paying positions for the past several years and really thought I had a shot at this one. Evidently not, although I haven't been officially told no yet. I have had similar experiences as you with the little or no help from former colleagues. I don't know what I'll do now. I have an option at a cubicle inside sales position that pays $30,000.00 a year. I may have to take that just to have something. Good luck to you.

I'm not an older rep but will admit the older reps are the ones doctors listen to. I've seen older counterparts do a better job because there is a mutual respect between rep-doctor. Younger reps do what the companies ask them to do and older reps already know what works. I learn from older reps when others roll their eyes.

Amen, I wish the managers would be as enlightened as you. I have been told by doctors how much they hate the young reps who come in acting like they know so much when they really don't and how much they appreciate someone who is more their peer. You can actually establish a relationship that is not just business based because you have more in common outside of the office with people who are around your own age.

Please!! Has anyone, just one person gotten a call or email to let you know that you did not get the Rheum. position? It's easier to believe that just one sorry lazy recruiter failed to notify potential employees. It's really hard to understand an entire group of recruiters failing to notify people. It's incredible !

I have not heard anything and I have contacted my recruiter who insists he has not been told anything but will let me know as soon as he gets word.

I'm older than you. Five time President's Award who recently retired. As soon as they saw this older gentleman walk through the door, they laughed me out. Blatant age discrimination. How many five time President's Award achievers, with proven documentation, are presently working for Publicis?
I'll bet my house on it,none.

Not now, but when I get very very very old like you I'll have more than 5. I have 3 already!

You a smart person, when I was hired many years ago my manager told me listen in training then when you come home forget everything they taught you because it's all BS, and that's what I did. Fortunately I had and older rep who took me under his wing and I became very successful and you will too.

Hate to tell you this but every F'n recruiter is the same, they are the scum of the earth. They're only around when they need something then gone after they use you up.

I also have heard nothing from recruiter. I called and left messages but have not received a call back. Low life!
I knew my chances were low because I do not fit the 'skippy pfizer image' but thought that maybe 8 years experience calling on rhm's in one of the toughest markets in the USA would be enough. Guess I was wrong.
