"Maternity leave" is actually a type of short term disability insurance and HR can't tell you because the time off can be different due to what your doctor thinks your medical risks are. You may have required bedrest before delivering (or not).
As far as for paid time off for maternity leave, it is usually 6 weeks for a normal delivery or 8 weeks for a c-section. You can use FMLA for a grand total of 12 weeks off form work, but that will also eat up all your paid vacation first and then it is unpaid leave for the remaining weeks.
