Restructuring and layoffs please use this new thread for updates

He had only been with Sanofi since 2018. The R&D at Sanofi has been dismal under his watch. Thankfully Dupixent made a ton of money to keep idiots like Reed I'm a gig. Never anything coming to market on his watch. Sanofi's idea of transformation was massive layoffs. Reed was an empty suit.

Read the FiercePharma article that talks about the town hall and the announcements of layoffs. The arrogance and tone-deafness of leadership-especially Anthony Fernandez is appalling. No regard for people and feelings. He’s always been smug and disconnected. Always about himself. Now it’s in writing. But in his world, “no such thing as bad PR”. He made FiercePharma. He’s big time.
 












Unfortunately, this was all very predictable based on decisions made by Mammen and Snellgrove starting in 2018. Combined, they managed to come in and destroy a decade of growth all because of ego. Hait and Stoffels combined with Picariello as CFO led R&D to deliver more than 2 NMEs per year for over a decade while avoiding the boom/bust common in the Pharm industry. Mammen and Snellgrove came in and proceeded to knock it all down to build “a better R&D org”, also knocking the prior leaders at every opportunity. Heavy handed management exact opposite of what they inherited, they choked out the culture. The result? NOTHING!!! Sales are still being driven by old NMEs from Hait/Stoffels era. Mammen shifted money away from portfolio to data sciences and other personal play areas and Snellgrove’s heavy handed and biased budget cuts undercut the very model that had R&D humming before his arrival. What happens to him, promoted to CFO for all of Pharm, and what happens, the rest of the business now follows R&D. At least Mammen was ousted, though more likely due to sexual harassment suit than recognition of incompetence. Sad to see that 2 narcissistic ego maniacs were capable of destroying all that Stoffels built. Those who experienced both worlds, felt the difference and knew this was coming. Pharm cycle is long and results of their actions from 2018 are just being felt now. As said, very predictable with no easy or short term fix possible.

Chesterbrook site will close June 15 2023. Relocation to Horsham for 6 months until new Horsham facility ready, It makes some sense since Chesterbrook has been under utilized. But it also speaks to a complete inability of J&J to assess, analyze and plan. Just one more example in many. It is an inbred company.

Everyone will be gone from the Derm team in 9 months. It is clear. The division is failing, leadership sucks, Skyrizi is dominating, we are useless reps, we fake all of our calls. The expansion was solely to place laid off reps. Everyone’s getting screwed. The company has took a big dumpster dive, great talent has left or is leaving. I’m just making my resume pretty and collecting a check. Let’s enjoy our money for the next few months till we get that call.
