The most common perception error is that biologics and Oncology has better access than PCP. Biologics calls on the folks as RST/PCP does. Access to them is the same. Oncology, no better. All of pharma is dying a slow death.

It is known throughout the company that Oncology has the worst access of all TA's. This is fact. Oncology reps on CP talk about how they influence prescribing in their territories. Perhaps a small minority do. However the vast majority of Oncology reps report calls on doctors they don't make or count a wave as a call just as much as other reps. They think they are immune to layoffs. I got news. When the pharma model changes and it will, high paying Oncology rep jobs will be cut significantly. Those reps left will have huge travel territories. I can see 75% cut in the sales force.
Ya Ya Ya, you are just pissed off because you wanted to be an oncology rep but didn’t have dick to making it loser. At AZ we are expanding in all of the oncology franchise and you are hopelessly looking in from the outside and upset because YOU wanted to be one of us, the chosen few. So go back to your primary care job and continue to sit in the corner with your arms folded, holding your breath until you get your way.
MY friend, your assumptions are all wrong. Years ago I was an Oncology rep. I have been promoted and not in the sales force anymore. The chosen few? LOL hardly. The feeling in the home office is that most of you are highly overpaid and have targets on your back. Your access is awful and just not worth the salary and benefits paid to you. So you can tout the great pipeline as being your savior but the fact is Oncologists are not seeing reps. We could cut 75% of you and not lose a script. When was the last time you attended a tumor board meeting (if you know what that is)???? We know the VAST MAJORITY of tumor board meetings are closed to sales people. OH and instead of attacking people with silly comments why not put some thought in your argument and discuss it logically instead of spewing hate.
Ya right, promoted, an oncology rep, REALLY!! You expect me to believe that, I have a summer home in the North Pole I would love to sell you. I have been to several tumor board meetings, journal clubs, grand rounds (do you know that one my full of shit friend), and have the personal cell numbers of several oncologist in my territory (can you say that?) let me answer that one for YOU, hell NO you don’t!! Yes access is hard, but for those of US who find ways of getting to our doctor’s, nurse navigators ( ever heard of them), infusion or clinical nurses I get the job DONE!! I’m gathering and giving you the benefit of the doubt you were in oncology, but didn’t make the cut, because you didn’t have the perseverance or imagination to execute and deliver!! If you need some help, please feel free to ask me, and I will see if I have time for you.
Why are you so angry this holiday season? Ok I will grant you that you are the BEST ONCOLOGY rep that ever carried a bag. Someday you will be in the Oncology hall of fame. Let me ask you this my angry friend, How many of your fellow Oncology reps can say the same thing? Most calls are false or waves through the window. Not yours of course! Oncology access sucks. Most hospitals are totally closed to reps. But you my hall of famer, get in yours and attend journal club and tumor boards. What about other oncology reps? LOL Hardly. So my angry friend, I again challenge you to a logical argument. Not one where you spew anger and hate. The model is doomed. That includes Oncology which has some of the poorest access.
NOT angry at all, just can’t stand or tolerate scum like you that are negative, lazy, and think its funny to tear down people, in other words my worthless little man, bullies like you need to be dealt with in a manner which you can only understand and relate too. Why did you get in the pharmaceutical industry just to make money, or was it to have a career and feel good about making a difference in peoples lives? You see attitude and compassion translates into a persona that can be felt from our accounts, sure not all, but most, and that’s something that comes from the very fiber of our souls. If you can’t relate, then move on to something that you can too.
Negative and lazy my angry friend? Hardly! I'm not tearing down anybody. I'm stating fact. The current sales model you work in is DEAD and will change. In all your posts you have never replied to the fact and that is....Oncology access is awful and at least half of Oncologist do not see reps at all. The vast majority of hospitals are closed. Now I did agree that you are a hall of fame Oncology rep who does not face these problems. You have access to everywhere in your territory. However you can't deny the fact that the majority of Oncology reps lie on calls just as much as Primary Care reps and overall have little impact on prescribing. My reasons for a pharma job are not the topic of discussion however I will take your word that YOU make a difference in peoples lives. However the vast majority of Oncology reps are going through the motions giving their boss metrics and make LITTLE difference in the prescribing habits of their doctors. Again if I have to repeat myself; I am NOT angry, obviously as an ex-rep, and oh of course manager, I can see why you are NO longer employed in the pharmaceutical industry, YOU can’t listen, one of the MOST important traits to have as a sales person. On the contrary, I am quite amused at your attempt to bait, or think in your little diminutive mind that I am angry, dude, this is all a game, the problem is that YOU got caught, or maybe you were at the bottom of the rankings and got fired. So you come on CP, troll around all of the threads and get yourself off by trying to get people rilled up. Look, I am very secure, successful and enjoying the blessings that God has bestowed upon me with a tremendous career, amazing boss and team, working for a company(AZ) that has turned itself around, and providing a future for all of us. I’m sure that you are pissed because you are looking in, wishing, hoping, and praying that you could be among the select few. I will continue to pray for you that you find what you are looking for, unfortunately its not here.

You make assumptions. i.e. I'm no longer in the pharma industry, bottom rankings, was fired, manager, etc. I told you, I concede that you are the best Oncology rep ever in the history of pharma and will be in the pharma hall of fame. I'm glad you have a good boss, teammates, etc. Now you talk about future. My angry friend, the sales model is broken, it will change and it will change in Oncology. I'm sure you the hall of fame Oncology rep will keep your job, however there will be layoffs and they are coming soon. It’s nice to have a HUGE laugh this morning, and reading your condescending post, because you are still bitter and unable to accept the fact that you want to be in oncology but lack the experience and education to join the elite like us. This so called model has been going on for years, and every year during this time, idiots like you continue to preach that there are going to be changes, blow up the current model and HUGE changes are coming, but they never do, why because the pharma industry accepts and continues to use this way. I cant tell you why they do this, but till one of the BIG three change, this will continue for the unforeseeable future. Again I am sorry you don’t have the skills and experience to be in this chosen club, but I’m sure you can get a nice managers job at Walmart or McDonalds with your wealth of expertise.
