Reorg

so go find a new boss. what are you waiting for. there is no one keeping you here against your will. bunch of spineless babies. if you had any nuts, you would take control of the situation and go see how much better it is somewhere else. those big bad corporate guys are ruining our careers. if you are allowing someone else to control your career, you deserve whatever you get.

Easier said than done. It's the health insurance and benefits at J&J holding us hostage.....can't beat those golden hand cuffs and leave for just any other job.

Totally true on the benefits and at my age, I wouldn't score anything near as good as this gig which is why i put up with the butt wipe. I don't know about your neck of the woods but around here, decent jobs are hard to find. It took me a year to find this one. i can't move due to family situation so the spineless wonder holds me hostage. You speak like somone much younger than myself and if you can, go for it. Some of us just have to ride it out and hope.

Why are they all going? Seems like a big waste of Money

Because there are a ton of structural changes coming and the DMs have to be up to speed since they will be managing these changes. This is not about laying off a bunch of reps. All rep jobs are changing. Specialty reps, account manager reps, etc..and the DMs will be involved in managing the transition to the new roles. This is a MAJOR transition not just a way to lower headcount.

hint: when you leave JNJ you keep your retirement. Sure, you don't add to it, but it you are pension eligible (>5yrs) you will keep that credit and start keeping paid elsewhere.

I was terrified as well but in the end I took the other job, got a higher plan, and made up the "difference" by contribuiting an extra 5% to 401K.

Just do the math, and really be objective. Don't stay at JNJ for the benefits, it will sap your spririt.

I honestly think that the majority of reps will be fine. It is the majority of managers that will be GONE. SEE YA!

Managers will find out the organizational structure next Tues-Thurs. Then within the next 2 weeks......goodbye.

Most of them need to be gone. It's worse than the federal government around here with all the pencil pushers trying to justify their jobs. Do I really need someone riding with me every quarter telling me how worthless I am even though I've never missed my number? I don't think so! I'm hoping mine is one of the ones to go. A+*hole

Interesting how they pushed back the announcement of DM positions to coincide with rep placement... that can't be good. Sounds like a massive DM layoff to me. I hope mine is one of them- or I hope he is demoted to rep level.

If you had paid any attention they told us exactly how many DMs would be displaced..there are 72 divisions, plus 14 new energy DM jobs, plus 2 training DMs. So 88 DMs will have jobs. As far as total DMs currently, we have heard 110 but then Kip said there are actually 90+ currently. The coinciding of rep/DM placement just means that other than the assessments they have already completed, the DMs won't be as involved with rep placement as thought earlier.

Wasnt that long ago that Fred and the talking heads were saying what a great place this is to build a career. If you have to learned by now, trust management as much as you trust a strange angry pitbull and make sure you put yourself over company.

It is very risky to believe that one can build a career at Johnson and Johnson. It is a company that does not care for its employees and reorganization happens constantly. If you want to build a career, go to a smaller more stable company than Johnson and Johnson.

I was actually hoping to retire here but I can see now that it isn't going to happen. I called HR about my douche bag manager and true to form, it magically all became my fault. Even though I've made and continue to make my number. These people are spin masters. The Credo is simply something they hide behind and is about as useful as the pieces of paper it is printed on. I've never been more disappointed in an organization than this one. At least at previous jobs, they flat out tell you - we're in it for the money and to wring you dry. I can deal with that.

You are all over this board crying about your manager, maybe you are the problem because you dont know how to make your number and be a good employee. Its not just making your number at jnj. You must fall in line and not be an asshole. You are missing the mark on that one.

You say you would be ok if the company just said we are in it for the money right? Well read that credo, its all about the SHAREHOLDERS! That tells you what you say you are ok with hearing. JNJ is all about making the stock go up, not making you feel good. So now you should know JNJ is all about making money by having reorgs every quarter and if you call HR they will not protect you. HR will look and see that the other 7-8 on your team have not complained against the DM so you must be the problem. Thats how it goes ma'am. Can you stop crying now?
