Reorg is on, get ready

Not really for a couple of reasons. 1. in derm we actually see our physicians so relationships are pretty important. 2. Because we actually see our Dr.'s selling skills are important which oncology reps don't have.

Oncology experience certainly pays well and is a hard job. But its completely different. We wish those reps well and hope they jump on somewhere.
Really, get over ya self - many of us came from derm easy access, providers that deal in high percentage of cash pay NOT bogged down in challenging reimbursement issues with almost every treatment they Rx, In ONC you have to be skilled in selling because you have short infrequent interactions additionally onc/hem have to be highly skilled in knowing who the key support stakeholders are to get patients on drug and keep them on. Derm was a feeder into onc so just stop with the nonsense. Way too much self preservation going on!

Definitely some people from Derm go into oncology- the pay is a big draw. To say many come over is an overstatement. And short infrequent interactions isn't selling. If you know anything about what real selling is you know that. And as a DM I can tell you we are under no pressure to hire anyone from Oncology- we are told to hire the best people. And will continue to do so.

it’s so refreshing to know that the company and managers don’t really care about giving loyal
Employees who unfortunately are downsized due to no fault of their own… a leg up for an opening which we all know that employee could do! It’s absurd! Help out your own before hiring external candidates! What if that was you in the position needing another job????… and by the way.. it could easily be you in a matter of weeks!
Zero culture or class at Novartis anymore

Everyone is told to hire the best people - you actually sound like someone rejected from oncology. For many years RespDerm was the oncology feeder - many know the easy access that derm sales provides - some would call it shooting fish in a barrel- onc specialists and ASMs (not DMs as they cover large geographic areas and all are highly skilled in selling, reimbursement, formulary process and pathway/EHR initiatives) - long gone are the days of monthly derm lunch cart exercises- the skill set of onc selling is to impact your business immediately because the time spent with providers is precious onc teams are so skilled in selling they get the commitment and proceed with the key staff to pull through. As a DM maybe your team would benefit from some ONC mentors!?

LOL Oncology may be the place to be, but please get over yourself. Worked in oncology for years, and at companies that Novartis’s pipeline could never compete with. Oncology sales is the new PC. Do you go to bed at night and look in the mirror and tell yourself your the best? You sound like the type of person who walks around the grocery store one their phone and drops the word “oncology” every other word to impress strangers and convince yourself your important. Sit down, be humble.

Stop self projecting- no where in the responses did anyone say onc was the place to be!! The responder was replying to the OP making statements that onc is not sales - yep agree onc is evolving into a similar sale as pc with LOE and generic competition. Your response feels a bit immature, with low EQ.
