RBD/RM Meetings in Dallas last week in November

Amen brother. Sick of all the Rock Star, Ace Points bullshit that comes from managment. They have overblown salaries for doing what? Playing armchair QB? If there is any truth to Abbotts new management direction, companies will be so much better off. Reps will be more productive and not have to do the dog and pony show for their boss. I have a feeling the wagons will circle and management will start to watch one anothers backs. Metrics and all the other bs they have created shows little value. I have a feeling as long a s those at the top can continue to line their pockets with our hard work to show for it, nothing will change. Egos and titles have made these people think they are something more than they really are. With the upcoming Thanksgiving parades on the horizion, that is what they think of themselves. Full of hot air and nothing more than a larger version of something they are really not. Their solution is let's have a meeting and sign it to the company. How could all these ego fit into the same room? I think a conference call would be better dollars spent. It's become like a cult following. Person in front pours the kool-aide and everybody else drinks up. Convention of bobbleheads. Set the first one in motion and watch all the rest follow in agreement.

The real issue is way too many mid level managers. One could argue the need for DM's, either for or against, but there is absolutely no need for both the RM and RBD level. I would eliminate all the RM's (what true value is the 3 in the car) other than an excuse for the RM to travel to market on a Tuesday, work with rep and DM for a few calls on Wed, then travel home on Thursday. Exact formula used by our RM for his efforts. What a waste of resources at a salary of 175-225k. But since they are at this meeting, bet the big cuts will come from the DM and rep level.
 




Bet you a thousand dollars that ZS Associates will be there too. Last time all managers were summoned to Dallas on short notice, was for a huge ZS lead re-org. Here we go. Another anxiety filled holiday season. DBMs will be notified of their placement the first week in December. Reps will learn their fate the second week.

This layoff may or may not happen, but this ranking meeting is an annual event. It happens every single year--layoff or not--at about the same time of year.

More a matter of force fitting people into the allotted rank-levels for the territory.
For example...if 5 folks and all 5 are stellar...there may only be "room" for 2 at the highest rating !!!!!!!!
It's called a force fit...
They MUST obey...so the actual "discussion" involves how to rate specific people in specific ways to ensure they end up in the pot they need to be in.
Otherwise the "discussers" will get their asses kicked in their own "discussion" somewhere else.

Rep calibration. Funny. It a contest to see which rep has their nose the furthers up their mangers ass than the others. Could it be that it's a behind the curtain look at your performance based on what isn't seen? Genral Petraius situation. Wild Billy Clinton. If HR or outside company makes these decisions it could become done fairly. The biggest problem is that the numbers are not a true reflection of one's ability to sell. They are pie in the sky, created by an company CMR that makes these up as a way of showing your performance. Whatever happened to selling the product to the customer? Now you have to sell your belief in the company or more to your manger. Your soul to the company and then third comes the product to the customers. It is one big train of you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours all the way to the top.

2008 we met to do the confidential 6 question calibration only to find out later that this was the determining factor for retention and layoffs in 2009. We were told after they were submitted. Beware
