This position is a joke.

Reason #1 Unreasonable and unattainable MBO's which represent close to 50 percent of bonus compensation. You will never see this money.
#2 Most pathologists hate Genoptix. Years of cutting them out of the equation make this job nearly impossible. You won't even be able to make appointments to see them.

#3 1 TC/PC platform versus other companies that offer Tech only on everything.
#4 More expensive than other labs. Resistance to deeply discounting to win business.
#5 Upper management doesn't understand hospital market.
#6 Upper management not committed to long game.
#7 Terrible corporate culture
#8 Unprofessional and inexperienced DM's

Keep these things in mind before you pursue this job.
 






Is this job really as bad as these posts? Why are there 3 openings listed on the Internet? It sounds like any easy gig. I am a PA looking to get into sales and this sounds easy. Please give honest feedback. So I can make up my mind about pursuing or not.

The easiest way to get on a PIP is if your manager gets mad and starts not liking you. That's how easy you can get put on a plan. Don't ever have an opinion or prove them wrong. They view stating reality as being negative. "Just do what you are told" is the robot manager's mantra. If you don't seem engaged or happy you can be put on a PIP. This sales force is managed like children by immature, insecure, petty pack of severely sociopaths.
 












I am confused by the role of this position. My PAE continues to contact me asking me for information about the hospitals within my territory. He also asks me to stop in with him when he visits. Why are we paying these people if the DSC's are doing the heavy lifting?

Don't kid yourselves DSC's your are only caterers. I wish all I had to do everyday was deliver lunch and brochures to Hem/Oncs. Most of you that are bitching about the comp plan haven't brought on any new offices. PAEs can't bribe Pathologists with EMR money but you can and you still aren't able to get any new accounts. The reason your PAE asks you to come in on calls is to let you see how easy you have it. The hardest part of you day is deciding where to get lunch. Stop griping about your PAE and go close some new accounts.

You sound like the kind of dumb ass who would take a PAE positon. Hey Dumbo 30% of my accounts' business resides in the hopsital as in-patient. The fact that you cannot leverage the strong relationships I developed in the community showcase what a LOSER you really are. Oh well, gotta get ready for more mgmt meetings today.

I challenge you to try and do my job, with no product offering to hospitals, no value proposition to hospitals, very limited tech only offering and a very negative history with my primary call point. You would wither and curl up in the fetal position if you had to do it for a quarter. Keep delivering Subway to your accounts and hope they don't get bought out by the hospital. If you aren't a newbie then you're a damn fool for staying here and getting screwed.

Why do you think every PAE ( except one) is interviewing. Genoptix is not and will never be a player in the hospital market. The PAE position is a sham created to make Genoptix more attractive to Novartis. I regret the day I ever heard the word Genoptix and I can't wait to find another job and get out of this living hell.

It's true, the PAE position has a low success rate in the short run. This position should probably be eliminated after the first of the year. It was an ill conceived endeavor and the expectations from current upper management are unrealistic. Our "brain trust" wants business now and refuse to admit its not an easy task. Instead they have their Bovine Regional directors lean on their infantile DM's who harass the PAE's. This job is a loser, shut it down.
 






Got an e-mail from a pathologist informing me that 1) it is not necessary for both me and PAE to come in. So he asked me to have PAE stop calling since he is not providing anything different than me. 2) he then asked me to come in once we can offer him something that is comparable to what the competition is offering. When will Genotpix ever learn?
 






Hospital initiative is a complete bust! Increasing the pressure on reps will not make it any better. Try understanding the market you're in. We are laughed out of every office. The proof is in the pudding. It's not the reps it's management.

If you are a PAE, I hope you are interviewing aggressively because your jobs are going to be eliminated soon. Take anything you can to get out if not you are going to be unemployed probably before years end. No amount of hard work will change the situation. You are all going to be let go. Well, maybe not Sandy but the rest of you are screwed.
 






To anyone who is considering a PAE position at Genoptix, do yourself a favor and move on to another opportunity. You will rue the day you take this job. It will suck the life out of you and leave you an empty depressed wreck. Terrible management that will want you document your every move. No direction is ever given only micromanagement and constant blame for no progress. Even though the blame clearly lies with upper management's lack of understanding the hospital market and failure to give Pathologists what they want. You will fail because Genoptix is a non factor in this market and that will make you a non factor and you will find yourself mired in frustration and despair. The decision is yours but I am telling you, you'll be very sorry if you have the misfortune of ending up here.
