Pathology Account Executive

I absolutely agree With the poster mentioning poor culture here. It is not worth the stress and trying to wrap your head around the unprofessionalism. I also can assure you PAE's do not make that salary. Ive heard of a few leaving one of them a friend of mine in the Northeast who found a much better position after dealing with a horrible manager, unattainable MBO's etc. whenever a company lists unattainable ngoals to drive their performers out, it shows they know little to nothing about the market. They don't understand a hospital sale and can't teach it to anyone because if they don't understand how can you coach someone to understand? The grass is greener to those who have left. I'm looking and wish I made the same jump now.

The PAE job could be good if management from the V.P, Director of Sales, Regional Managers and District Manager would shut up and listen to the people who are dealing with the hospitals and Pathologists. You guys and gals in management don't know what you don't know. You all think you know because you sold to an office. News flash.... Offices are different than hospitals. Say that three times before bed every night so it will sink in. Also, stop putting people that have never sold to a hospital in charge of people and programs that sell to hospitals. This is almost an admission you aren't really committed to succeeding in this space. Sales should direct marketing not the other way around. Remember nothing happens until somebody sells something. With that said management stop with your compulsive one way communication and start listening. Offices are different than hospitals X 3 at bedtime.

hire better people. Get a better product and enter the path world like the hem onc world never existed. Too bad you cant do that. It is so fun to watch you twist in the wind. Thanks for the food during lab week. Please send more food for my clients around the holidays. Good times, good times.

It will never happen. Management is so screwed up here. They are living in the past and have no idea of how to compete within the current market. We are always a day late and a dollar short with everything we do. Once the final retention bonuses are paid there will be a mass exodus. Say that 3 times!

Whoever told you that is a giant liar or doesn't work for Genoptix. Genoptix figures out ways to not pay the PAEs. Modifying MBO's to make them unattainable and Part B. I would bet my next paltry bonus check that every PAE is interviewing. If the salary was in the six figures people would probably be able to tolerate the miserable working conditions here i.e. conference call overload, meddling inept micromanagers, upper management disreality, disrespect and disconnection. This job isn't worth the mental abuse or anguish that is part of the package.

Not the OP, but you are absolutely wrong. There will be more posters verifying this if this thread stays alive. This is an accurate base salary, and like the previous poster, I can’t believe anyone would think this is a good package. You are obviously not a DM or part of the HR process or you would not be arguing this. I know it's tough to hear, but it's true.

Not arguing, stating fact. The base salary is not 120K you idiot. There are very few medical jobs that have base salaries that high. You rarely see bases that high, even in device sales much less Laboratory sales.

Let alone the original argument, this is just not true. I think you're a rep calling on physicians and just not familiar with the larger market. Base salaries when calling on hospitals and pathology groups are generally in this range. You need to stop knocking on doctor's doors and up your game.

What is with AQUA and the Breast Cancer test? I am interviewing and it seems like a dumb idea.
There are so many products out there; ie Mammoprint,Mammostrat, Oncotype, etc

The thing is Aqua has the least amount of data. O chemo predictivity etc

Do you reps at Genoptix think I can sell this or what?

If you have to ask, probably not. Go interview at Best Buy.

That new Midwest PAE will be discouraged within 3 months, give up and hold on to her six-figure salary for another 9 months before jumping ship. JE might be the dumbest guy in the entire Midwest.

Try LabCorp, they're looking for people with your language skills.

Not sure why anyone would go for this. My own RSD said he would not recommend this position to any of his people for the fear that it might not last. He said it's a big risk.
After hearing about their MBO's I'd steer clear of this mess.

Run away! This position will not last nor will the company. NVS will cut bait by Q'2 next year

Word of caution. I took this job a few months ago and have regretted my decision ever since. Genoptix will not make it in the hospital setting. We don't offer any value to the pathologists. Our prices are higher than the competition. The management does not understand the environment and there are no resources to sell. Stay away if you are considering. I am regret coming over here and I am now concerned that this position will not be around next year.
