Nov 9 - Beginning of the End

Folks ,buckle your seatbelts. The ride will get bumpy. Get your head out of the sand or your ass and see our declining revenues, federal investigations galore= big fines, top tier salespeople and managers jumping ship, and now our CEO pulls his rip cord. Is this a company on the way up? Shit no! We will be bought out or right sized ( politically correct bs) fired in short order. Hid your kids, hide your wife............ And bend over and take it like a man!

Agreed! This company is in bad trouble. For all we know, shire could already be bought out. They started searching for a replacement for Angus in April. I forgot when Cola left, but it was sometime around that time frame. The writing is ALL OVER the wall. If you are having trouble seeing it then you must have the IQ of a rock!!

think they might let us know about the nov 9th date? when? the 8th

I was thinking the same thing.....we'll probably get a message on Nov 8th about a mandatory call on Nov 9th. I'm sure they will add fuel to the fire & tell us the new sales model & pretend they haven't already figured out the territories to know that they only need like 380 of us (or whatever the # is) and that is what pisses me off the most. They said high communication but all we get are vague answers to direct questions & zero communication from upper mgmt. i am surprised that more people haven't left honestly! So what happens when someone gets pushed out & a month later the rep that kept their job gives their resignation? I doubt I would even want my job back if it were me. I guess if you aren't looking.....you need to wake up bc this train is coming to a screeching halt.

All these people freaking out and tryin to get other to follow suit with all the "sinking ship" and "screeching halt" talk please listen to me. Get off the boat, jump ship. While you're panicking and sitting at home fixing your resumes, some people are out working.

Sure, sure we drank the koolaid, but maybe there's some people that don't think Shire is done. Maybe there are some that see that there will be layoffs in areas where there needed to be layoffs for quite some time. Maybe there are people that understand that maybe these layoffs will help Shire in the long term. I'm sure you're laughing and hacking your head, but just leave then.

We are all upset that friends if not ourselves will be laid off. But if you're thinking the Shire ship is done, just leave. Maybe your resignations will help those who actually would like to stay keep their positions.

Go ahead with the pussy and koolaid talk. Or maybe I'm an idiot RD. Either way, jump from the sinking ship. Please.

You do realize its possible to work hard and still be realistic dont you? You didn't mention fines, the CEO resignation, people jumping ship to Supernus for a perceived opportunity to advance their careers- only layoffs. I'm not going to call you a pussy or make a joke on this one, but your logic and reasoning is pathetic. The same line of reasoning would be for me to reply to you and say if you don't like that your coworkers are having doubts then don't work with us- YOU LEAVE

I hear ya, and I apologize for my comments. I'm just tired of the panic. I really don't think it's going to be as bad as everyone thinks. But I realize I'm clearly in the majority with that notion.

In regards to the people that went to Supernus, I think the opportunity to advance their careers, get stock options with a company that although it isn't "new" it's a young one, combined with the fact that most of these people who left are actually going home was enough to entice them. I don't think a Shire from a few years ago could have convinced them to not take the jump.

The CEO leaving doesn't mark the end of Shire. This was the same guy who wanted to cut the sales force at least twice since he's been here, and probably had some influence in this re-org discussion as well. So, that shouldn't panic anyone.

The fine, well that's bad. But pharma companies are fined all the time. Plus, the actually monetary amount of the fine is (from all I'm hearing) going to be smaller than expected. Of course I can't say how I know this and this can't prove it. So I'm guessing most will say I'm wrong.

Koolaid!!! Hook a brother up. That shit tastes good. Good luck getting a real sales job with a pharma background.

Keep your head down and keep working hard, haha. Read the bloomberg report about 3rd quarter earnings are going blow.

CEO's dont casually retire at the worse possible time.

But seriously, save some Koolaid, you will need it when you are out of work.

The RDs will find out their regions next week but not necessarily what reps they have. Everybody gets the salesforce structure on the 9th and on Friday November 30 you will get your new territory information or a displacement package.

Any chance if you get a displacement package you can move into another role with the company?

Bullshit. November 30th! If you get a displacement package you are finished on the 30th...??

Anyone can look at things half full or half empty...many on this board are the type that look at this half empty and that is your choice. But my choice is to look at things half full even through these tough times. Shire has had tough times in the past with the plant blowing up when we sold Adderall, Concerta launching before Adderall XR, Straterra was lauched and supposed to take the company out of business, Focalin XR was launched said supposed to take a huge share as well, moving our company from Kentucky to Philly, changing to customer sales model from the traditional script apporach, 5 expansions, the patent running out on Adderall XR and panicking going on until we bought New River whcih had Vyvanse, etc. All of these things that occured their were people like a lot of you on this board that said the same things...Mark my word...we will overcome anything and be better for it

This is just a few of the challenges the company has seen over the past 15-20 years...I want to be with people who face these new challenges in the marketplace with this same optimism and so if that means a few bumps in the road over these next few weeks then so be it....GO SHIRE!

All of the challenges of the past which you mentioned were overcome by the same people who built this company and made it successful. Now, we have blatantly inept upper management who have not proven anything aside from a total lack of leadership or direction.

You can't believe that this is the same Shire of the past. It is not.

I like how you assume you'll be here LOL. I bet you'll be on CP singing a different tune if your gone!

Exactly. Those people are all at Supernus now!
