Nexgard Thoughts

My rep keeps telling me that the Deer Tick will be added to the label of Nexgard "sometime in the near future".
Unless Nexgard is proven to kill the deer tick within 24 hours (which is still a little too long for me to feel comfortable), I could care less!

Killing ticks after 48 hours is NOT impressive!
How long does it take before an engorged tick can spread disease?

If Lyme disease is a concern in your area...Steer clear of this product!

Mr. Elanco, you get no ticks so shut up. Lyme disease is spread from 48-72 hours. 48 hours is not speed of kill with NexGard. After 48 hours, all ticks were dead! They could have all died at 24 hours. It is just a data point. If Lyme disease is a big concern in your are, test, vaccinate and use FL Tritak. If you the client wants an oral, use NexGard. Unfortunately for you Trifexis and Comfortis don't fit.

From the CDC website: "...ticks need to be attached for at least 24 hours before they can transmit Lyme disease."

"They could have all died at 24 hours" - Typical statement from a Merial rep...relying solely on baseless assumptions and devoid of any empirical evidence.

Tritak to prevent Lyme? I don't want ticks to attach!!! Remember?!?
Besides, when was the last time Sergeant's produced a decent product?

Alright Einstein- use Certifect, the ONLY topical product that detaches ticks and prevents attachment. Preventic collars and Certifect are the only two. You are pathetic. We will sell more Tresaderm than you will sell Trifexis next year.

Hasn't your management team told you Certifect will be discontinued?

Nexguard is trash! Merial is a cesspool of shitty, overpriced products and lazy ass reps! Saw one the other day pull up to a clinic, sit in their car while I made my call and then pull out after I was done with my sales call. Don't think the track and trace is worth a shit on their products however it works on their company vehicles!

-Back to the deer tick question. I just called nexguard and they told me that nextguard did NOT work for deer ticks or any other tick EXCEPT american dog tick. Disappointing!!!!

My goodness, you all sound like a bunch of children on a playground. All the bickering and name calling, yet you really haven't provided much information about the product. FYI Nexgard is NOT on petmeds, I was just there. I am just a normal pet owner looking for the right product for my dog. I had no idea there was so much cut-throat behavior behind all of these products. Now I see it's more "political" than it is about what's right for the animals. If any of you have any real advice, I would be appreciative to hear, as I now see my Vet is just being SOLD by you what they should SELL to their clients, and I don't know who to trust or where to turn. I currently give my 16 lb dog FL Tritak, of course, he tries to rub it off immediately and his neck area stays "greasy" for quite some time. I was hoping for a palatable AND EFFECTIVE chewable, comparable to Heartgard. My friend told me about Nexgard, so here I am looking it up, but it doesn't quite seem to be a "complete" product … yet. Any thoughts from the previous posters, who mostly seem to be product reps. ?? Thank you. And, let's all play nice and try to get along. :)

Come TZ you can come up with something better than that crap. Now, go call Pet Meds and let them have it. You're not going to make that forecast it you don't
Back up up the trucks TZ.
