New Hire Oncology Reps

Wouldn't BMS be more respected by these offices, clinics and oncologists if they simply hired fewer reps but selected people with an actual medical background to represent the company? Or would too much knowledge base prohibit the bullshite that comes from marketing?

BMS lost all respect years ago. To doctors. We’re all just talking heads bringing lunch.

You work in a pod of six (6) could be good if you want to hide or bad if your a go getter, no one is really happy in this configuration everyone sells Opdivo.

Training sucks- timed test so have a buddy help you

Most merit increase given is 5% this is not a big spread from top performers to middle or bottom, most everyone gets 3%

Highest commission payout is around $54k and that was the number one spot in the nation
Promotions are almost non existent with exception to kiss ass
Leadership is weak
Car is ok
Benefits are ok
Overall great drug, mediocrity of a company
Challenging to get promoted

Best part time job in the world! Have a side business that nets me the same income. Almost ashamed to go to the bank, but get over it once I see my monthly statement.

I disagree with above. BMS pays well in base, cars are top notch (example:Volvo), 401K is 100% match for 1st 6%. Holiday shutdown (extra 4 days off) added to time off in 2 of the last 3 years. Medical is comparable to other companies but Rx plan is excellent. Bonus is comparable Payout no less than 50% of target. Company is as good or better on all measures.

Bonus at max if you are #1 is 70ish
Ageism is REAL. I feel for some of the older reps that have mentored me. They really helped a lot of us have quick learning curves, have been generous with their support/time and are not appreciated for what they do. We been told as newer reps to take things to the next level and behave differently then the reps that have been here for awhile. If we are honest with ourselves, we showed quick impact because of the tenured reps.

You are absolutely correct. The tenured are totally ignored. Some of the DBM micromanage because they are forced to. Once the new reps are up and running, upper management gets rid of the senior reps. In a prior post, If you think that a car is a reflection of how well a company treats their reps, then just look at the car. Small and .cheap. I see other companies that treat rep well by providing better, larger, safer and comfortable vehicles because they understand that the rep is in the car about 6 hours per date. Currently there is a company that provides toyota highlander with all the bells and whistle to keep the rep safe

Take it to the next level, just another cliche that means nothing. Company is in the crapper after how many very prosperous years? Where are we now? Who do you think helped build this now collosal shitshow? Reality is the company wants the cheapest reps available. For what the job has become any high school or GED grad could do it. Why pay tenured reps premium salaries theyEARNED by their cumulative business. It they weren’t performing they wouldn’t be here now.
Managers micromanage because that’s the only thing that justifies and saves their jobs. Useless reports, lists, one spread sheet after the other, ride-alongside, rah rah bullshit.
This business sucks!

And yes, The car is Chinese owned Volvo crap. Another car maker that cheapened the product.

A once respected job that has become a joke. If someone is satisfied collecting a paycheck to deliver lunch so they can check the call box, this is the job for you. It would be hilarious if it wasn’t for those dying cancer patients financing your little catering gig.
