New diabetes positions

I have had the phone interview and am moving on to face to face. I have always sold in the diabetes category, lots of experience. This is about half of what I was making, but it's reality.

My question is about the .19/mile for gas, for those of you who have been compensated this way in the past, does that work out ok? It seems a little low. Please advise.

Also, for those of you who have worked for the company, can you give details about the cars allowed? It said no convertibles, I have a new high end convertible and if I sell it now, will take a big hit which would take that $50,000-$60,000 pay even lower. Am researching my options, maybe buy a cheap used car. Do they have rules about how old or type of car etc? My friend just went with a company where your car has to be less than 3 years old and a sticker of over $25,000. She will have to upgrade every 3 years. With this being a one year contract at best, I have to figure out a vehicle solution. If it were permanent, I would trade my car for a small SUV, but for a one year contract I'm not so willing to give it up.

Also, please share your experience with working with the company and with the managers etc. Info on company climate and training experiences would be great. Will take any advice. Have a few more job options, but I love selling in diabetes and it's what I've done most of my career.

As far as the car goes, if the territory is small, you shouldn't accumulate too much mileage so no worries. If it ends up being a big territory then the junker is the way to go. They do not require your car to be new. It just needs to b insured. No, .19 per mile does not cover. The companies position is that they pay you the additional $600, so too bad. It all depends on your manager. Some should have retired a long time ago. Others are good, real world managers. Unfortunately, there are more fluff and no substance people here than I'd like to admit. Roll the dice and good luck.

Thank you so much for the honest reply. Would appreciate info and opinions on training, number of sales meetings/year, frequency of conference calls per week etc. I used to make a much higher wage but was always having to fly out, lots of 7 am conference calls etc.-earned it. Thank you once again for your opinions as I weigh my options. I don't know anyone who works for this company.

F.Y.I! The IRS allows .55/mile,at tax time you can write off the other .36/mile.Big tax write off,but don't forget to subtract your $600/month car allowance from total.Good luck!

Thanks again for being so professional and sharing honest answers. You are the type of person that I like to work with.

I also thank everyone for their honest opinions and answers. I am on to my second phone interview with the company. I just want to know everything I can about this place in an honest, professional matter. Pharma sales is new to me, so I am interested in learning everything I can, and what to expect.
