Hey all!

I interviewed in Chicago and was offered the job less than a week after. Im 34. No pharma experience and only 3 years of sales experience overall. I had an employee referral, which I think was a HUGE help in getting me there for the interview.

I’m in capital equipment sales now and the Lilly job was a 25% pay cut. I tried to negotiate better comp plan but only got them to give a small bump up in salary. The salary wasn't the issue; the bonus structure wasn't great. AND all these boards talking about their “big brother” and micro-management really turned me off. You also have to pay $150/month for the company car.

This was a positive experience for me overall but It made me realize the grass isn't always greener. I don’t want to burn any bridges since I would have killed for a job like this 5 years ago and you never know what might happen...

Good luck to everyone still on the hunt! I’ll keep scrolling these boards as they were really helpful!

13 years....105 base

good for you! From what I understand that is the max they’ll offer.

I’m 16 years in with multi national awards and got $100k. Originally they offered less and I kept negotiating but couldn’t get them past $100k. Wouldn’t budge on vacation either. I was told I’d the base they could offer depended on a budget they had to work with but idk how accurate that is.

Anyway I wish I’d have gotten $5k more but in the grande scheme it’s not much diff. Congrats!

Yearly increases will be low when you start at that amount. They will say you are at the top of your scale and the amounts you will get in breases will be leas then 1-2 %. And be prepared for major micromanagement.

Not always true. Some long standing employees making 120-130 base get 6-8 percent annually. Depends on performance

hahahaha. Check the internet for the median salary for what I do (Data Science). A base in the Midwest below $125k is an insult. You people that allegedly 'sell' for pharma are total garbage. Meanwhile, people like me are programming your demise. Watch and learn.

Save yourselves...learn R, Python, Java or anything, please.

I have to laugh at all the liberals out there talking about inclusion etc., while living in a pathetic place like Carmel, IN. Hey libs, if you want to impress us, move to 21st and Delaware then let us know how much you like diversity and inclusion. Total Garbage.
